Free ad-supported streaming television is fast becoming a major player in the entertainment industry, according to a new report by Xumo and The FASTMaster, with a third of American adults stating they regularly watch FAST channels during primetime hours and spend as much time viewing FAST channels as other entertainment options. #FASTchannels #streaming #VOD #AVOD

This is a very interesting report that I had the pleasure of assisting with in my role as roving FASTMaster. The reason I like it is that it tries to set the tone for the industry, i.e., it's brand neutral and not trying to suggest one service is better than another. It is loaded with facts about how advertisers and consumers see FAST and well worth a read.

FAST ERA comes to our world. I had a chance to meet many partners at MIPCOM and share what I've learned. 1) Content never gets old, but we have to work to ensure it stays young. Even content that comes to the end of its lifespan can find life in another country. 2) Launching a channel is just the beginning of the task. We need to think about monetization. A platform is not responsible for generating ads in whole countries. 3) FAST and AVOD must go hand in hand now. Don't just think about channels. Think about AVOD rights. 4) Always listen to the platform. We need to think about how to go global together. Please jump in with a strategy such as localization, monetization, and culture.
