I am grateful for the opportunity to showcase some of the secret sauce behind FBRC.ai with the AWS Startups team at our inaugural Culver Cup during LA Tech Week! Designing and executing creative competitions is part of our DNA at FBRC.ai. They help build community, benchmark new generative AI tools, and provide a sandbox for experimentation with content workflows. This vintage of the Culver Cup challenged our participants to use 3D assets with Playbook 3D and Global Objects while using Luma AI for character development and style transfer. Thank you, Nikao Yang, for the opportunity to develop the Culver Cup with you and your team, Cody Rasmus and Nikita Kuckian. In 2025, we might take the show on the road! Thrilled to announce that I was selected as one of the eight finalists at the Culver Cup AI Filmmaking Competition! The event is hosted by FBRC.ai and Amazon Web Services (AWS) as part of LA Tech Week The eight films are playing next Monday, the 14th, at the Culver Theater. I entered this AI competition with the goal of making a film that maintains consistent characters, consistent scenery, and recorded real people with real cameras (or an iPhone). It also pushed me to try out tons of new workflows and tools, most of which I've been covering for the past year with VP Land but I finally got to get into the weeds with them. Most of the workflow issues were my own technical knowledge limitations, having no professional experience in VFX or animation (and trying to learn Unreal in a week 🫠 ). What ended up on the screen is Plan D or E - but I'm even more excited knowing what's possible with just a little bit of technical skill blended with some of the AI tools I used. It's a fun little short, with a good amount of Floridaland deep cuts. I'll post tool and workflow breakdowns in the future. If you're in LA Monday, come say hi and watch the films!
