HVAC contractors used to have two options when it came to servicing their customers’ heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems: respond to calls or send out techs to perform preventive maintenance on a pre-set schedule. Both approaches aren’t ideal, because managers have little go on to ensure they’re sending the right parts and staff for the job, or they may be performing work that’s not yet necessary. The Internet of Things (IoT) systems change all that, according to a recent article in the Journal of Biosensors and Bioelectronics Research. Equipping HVAC systems with IoT solutions helps manufacturers, contractors, and end users monitor performance, prevent breakdowns and provide well-timed maintenance. The data IoT sensors collect helps provide real-time visibility and detail so contractors can make informed decisions such as how to prioritize service calls, prevent failures, and send the right techs at the right time. The five primary ways companies use IoT to improve these operations include preventative maintenance, ensuring energy efficiency, performing remote system monitoring and control, achieving regulatory compliance, and supporting recurring service plans. FCL Components Wireless Modules are an integral part of keeping HVAC IoT systems humming. Their flexibility, reliability and performance ensure HVAC contractors stay connected to the HVAC systems under their care, keeping customers comfortable while optimizing HVAC systems and the resources needed to maintain them. 👉 Read more: https://lnkd.in/gRGXVAB5 #iiot #iot #iotsolutions #sensors #environmentalmonitoring #wirelessnetwork #conditionmonitoring

The Internet of Things helps HVAC contractors keep their cool. Instead of waiting for a breakdown call in the middle of a heatwave or sending out techs for preventive maintenance whether a unit needs it or not, contractors can use IoT to get remote, real-time insight into an HVAC system’s status. The data IoT systems generate helps them monitor performance, detect developing problems, and even diagnose issues before the truck rolls, so they’re well prepared to get a system back in service. FCL Components Wireless Modules stand out for their ability to maximize the performance of HVAC IoT systems. Our Bluetooth® Version 5.0 (low energy single mode) module with FCL Components firmware, FWM7BLZ20B, works as a central/peripheral in HVAC systems. The FWM7BLZ20B can communicate with up to 8 peripherals simultaneously through the “GATT Direct Access Function,” enabling communication with other manufacturers’ Bluetooth modules. The FWM7BLZ20B also embeds “X2 speed” which increases communication speed, offering rates as much as 2 Mbps, and “LE Advertising Extensions,” which increase communication capacity and the number of channels. Symbol rate and data rate support both modes. This 15.7 x 9.8 x 1.7 mm module features an operating temperature of -40 to +85 degrees and operating voltage of 1.7 to 3.6V DC, as well as built-in crystal (32 MHz and 32.768kHz) and a built-in antenna. Touch panels in medical devices must meet exacting requirements: resisting electromagnetic interference (EMI), standing up to wet conditions, operating even when users wear gloves, and more. And they must do all that while delivering intuitive, reliable, responsive performance. In the past, most touch panels struggled to meet that bar. PCAP touch panels, which use capacitive touch technology, must be specially tuned to work with gloved fingers or tolerate liquid drops on their surface. That makes them extremely sensitive, leading to many false inputs. They must also be tuned to meet EMI expectations. Those are just some of the reasons FCL Components’ Feather Touch-Long Life resistive touch panels have been such a breakthrough for use in medical equipment. Our panels use resistive touch technology, so they emit an extremely low volume of EMI and are not sensitive to it. And resistive touch panels also respond to finger pressure, whether fingers are covered or bare, dry or wet, so input accuracy is far higher. That’s one reason the resistive touch panel market is projected to grow at a 9.7% CAGR from 2024-2034. But FCL Components’ Feather Touch-Long Life resistive touch panels take things quite a few steps further. First is Diverse Touch, a highly flexible set of capabilities that are extremely useful in medical applications: • Dual Touch two-point detection, which improves the accuracy and stability of two-finger gestures. • Pressure-level detection, so it can distinguish between pen and finger in the input area and be set up to behave differently according to the amount of finger pressure • High performance image-zooming and rotating functionality Our award-winning touch panels also offer the same “light touch” feeling as capacitive panels and a two-layer structure, which greatly improves operability. The housing and panel are flush, enabling an attractive, user-friendly design, and they support 10 million inputs, so they last a long time. There’s lots more to know about how FCL Components’ Feather Touch-Long Life resistive touch panels are an ideal fit for the exacting requirements of medical devices: 👉 More about Flush Surface Touch Panels for Medical Devices: https://lnkd.in/ghMjpJKj 👉 FID-1300/1520: https://lnkd.in/gXBzEEu2 #resistivetouchpanels #resistivetouchpanelsmedical #touchpanel #touchscreens

Green energy sources like wind and solar are key to combating climate change. But while both the sun and wind are freely available and renewable, they’re also intermittent. So the energy these energy sources generate must be stored to be of practical use. Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) are an increasingly popular method of safely storing renewable energy. They tap a range of innovative technologies that allow its system to capture charge and execute discharge, according to the Carbon Collective. One of the cutting-edge components in BESS systems is the battery management system. A BMS monitors the voltage, current, and temperature limits for a particular battery, controlling the disconnect relay so that batteries can be quickly disconnected should a malfunction occur. Relays play a key role in making BMS operate safely. FCL Components has designed a range of relay models to fit the many new uses of battery storage. The FTR-E1 is a high-voltage DC relay available in four different versions, with a contact capability of 20A-800VDC, 30A-450VDC, and 60A-400VDC. FCL Components' range of relays for BESS solutions boast the functionality needed for a greener future, from innovative arc extinguishing technology to bi-directional switching and power consumption reduction. Battery Energy Management Systems (BESS) are an important part of the effort to shift to renewable sources of energy. Batteries are key to storing data from intermittent energy sources like wind or solar. But batteries must be managed to be used safely. FCL Components’ FTR-E1 high-voltage DC relay helps keep battery use safe as part of a battery management system, a component of BESS systems used to monitor temperature and voltage in battery pack cells. The FTR-E1 uses two innovative relay technologies: • Arc extinguishing technology, enabling the current direction of the battery storage to be reversed during charging/discharging, with no difference in arc space. This ensures consistent performance when charging and discharging. • Power consumption reduction using the holding voltage method, which contributes to ease in temperature design and helps reduce PCB design cost. The FTR-E1 is available in four different versions to fit various products in residential, industrial, and utility use cases, with a contact capability of 20A-800VDC, 30A-450VDC, and 60A-400VDC. At FCL Components, we’re always working to make our great products even better. Case in point: improving the way we make our 4-wire resistive touch panel resistant to bacteria and viruses while making them more earth-friendly, too. Reducing the growth of bacteria and the number of viruses on shared screens like kiosks, office equipment, and especially medical devices is critical because of all the fingers that touch them on a given day. FCL Components offers two options for adding antibacterial and antiviral functionality to its touch panels: one applied during production and another, unique to FCL Components, that can be applied in the field. This second coating, which featured antibacterial and antiviral properties applied over an indium tin oxide (ITO) film, will be standard with the company’s upcoming Feather Touch Clean Life (FID-1100-CL) series of 4-wire resistive touch panels. This new film also represents a 5% improvement in resource efficiency compared to our conventional coatings, making it more environmentally friendly as well. The next great way to earth-friendly way to heat and cool buildings may not be some fresh-from-the-lab technology, but one invented in the 1850s: heat pumps. According to an article in MIT Technology Review, at the most basic level, a heat pump gathers heat from one place and puts somewhere else. So while it’s mostly thought of for heating, it can also be used for cooling, gathering up the heat that’s inside and sending it outside. So the same heat pump can sometimes be used to heat or cool. It does all in a highly efficient way, compressing and expanding refrigerant as it moves through the system. Heat pumps are widely considered to be the most important technology for reducing heating’s climate impact. FCL Components plays a critical role in making heat pumps safely deliver those environmental benefits. The alternative gases used to make heat pumps greener, like propane, are also highly flammable, and relays are a potential ignition source. FCL Components has a whole line of relays specially designed to operate safely in these conditions, and are used to support switching of valves, compressors, fans, resistive heating elements, pumps and thermostats. There’s lots more to understand about heat pump technology.
