Formally chartered by the Federal Technology Transfer Act of 1986 (15 U.S.C. §3710), the FLC’s mission is to promote, educate and facilitate federal technology transfer among its member labs and institutions so they can easily reach their mission goals, and impact society and the economy with new innovative technologies. Through easy-to-use, cross-agency resources, education and training, tools and services the FLC creates and provides for our nation, federal labs are better able to create public-private partnerships, navigate the commercialization process, and help companies achieve market success. Spotlight on Argonne National Laboratory Separations Technologies Separation processes are critical across industry verticals such as hydrogen, biofuels, biomanufacturing and water. One of the significant challenges is the high cost and energy intensity of product separations, purification, and recovery. Advances in separation technologies are needed to reduce energy use, harmful emissions, and overall process costs. This technology showcase will highlight opportunities for advanced materials and processes in separation technologies – with a particular emphasis on biomanufacturing/bioenergy and water applications – including technologies that are available for licensing.
