Meet National Civil Rights Leader, Amrith Kaur Aakre Amrith was part of the original group of student activists at George Washington University in Washington, DC, who, after 9/11, cofounded the Sikh Coalition. She went on to become the legal director of the Sikh Coalition, where she coordinated legal and policy initiatives to protect the civil rights of all Americans, created community empowerment, and continued efforts to engage communities for positive opportunities. Now, she is the Director of the Chicago District’s U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). The EEOC prevents and remedies unlawful employment discrimination and advances equal opportunity for all. Thanks to you and your team, Amrith, for all you do!
