The City of Sacramento is setting the bar for long-term planning. Congratulations to the City for receiving the CA APA Excellence in Comprehensive Plan (Large) Award for their forward-thinking 2040 General Plan! Unlike typical general plans that focus on expanding roadway networks, this plan re-allocates roadway space for multimodal use as the city directs more growth to infill areas. This combination creates greater accessibility to the city’s destinations for all modes of travel. We’re grateful to have supported their efforts to prioritize sustainable, transit-oriented development and reduce VMT impacts to build a safer and more connected community! https://lnkd.in/eM4CAF-N Ronald T. Such a great panel to cap off a great APA California conference! Talking VMT reduction through land conservation and housing production in location-efficient places with Elizabeth O'Donoghue, Shannon Hatcher, Matt Hertel, AICP, and Aaron Gabbe. Great strategies and stories from an amazing group of planners and conservation professionals, with some technical methods and CEQA compliance thrown in for good measure. || Fehr & Peers, California Air Resources Board, City of Sacramento, WESTERN RIVERSIDE COUNTY REGIONAL CONSERVATION AUTHORITY, The Nature Conservancy

Transportation planners are under pressure to provide quick, data-driven recommendations in today’s fast-changing landscape. In collaboration with SEMCOG and Michigan Department of Transportation, we developed an innovative tool that accelerates multimodal analysis by streamlining the testing of different street design scenarios. By focusing on pedestrian, bike, and vehicle needs, the tool helps clients prioritize and assess options faster, saving valuable time in the decision-making process. Last week we celebrated the opening of the US 101/Trimble/De La Cruz Interchange Improvement Project! Although I've worked on several interchange projects, this was the first ribbon cutting ceremony I have been able to attend, and I was so excited to celebrate with the team and all those who played a part in making this project a reality. The project includes a new, wider overcrossing, upgraded on and off-ramp facilities, removal of a tight weave segment on US 101, and a new Class I bike/ped path that goes under the southbound ramps and connects Central Expressway to the Guadalupe River Trail! Such a great project! Congrats! Suzanne Luckjiff Tiffany Nguyen, EIT Fehr & Peers
