It was great to kick off the fall this week with an incredible panel discussion in SF, The Impact of AI on Finance -- Beyond the Hype! Thank you to Joyce Li, CFA (CEO & Chief AI Strategist, Averanda Partners) for setting the stage with a presentation on current applications, observations, and challenges; to our panelists Parker Gilbert (CEO & Co-Founder, Numeric), Deirdre Mullen (VP of Finance, Planful), and Sandeep Madduri (CEO & Co-Founder, Precanto) for sharing their insights; and to Glenn Snyder for skillfully moderating the conversation. Special thanks to Daniel Sanchez, Javier Chávez, and the Wells Fargo team for hosting the event! Some of the key takeaways from the discussion included: ✔ Prep work is needed before engaging with AI, especially to make sure data is clean and aligned ✔ Understand and set the correct expectations for results – it could take one to two quarters to really start getting results that are good quality ✔ When used properly, AI can drive efficiency and lift up poor performing staff, but people have to be willing to change   ✔ Results need to be checked and validated, especially if they are going to a board or the public ✔ AI forecasting is based on historical data and trends -- it can’t pick up things like future layoffs or departmental reorganizations For our attendees, what were your takeaways from the event?
