Rumors can create confusion and keep people from getting help they need. ONLY share information from trusted sources. Visit our rumor control page to get the correct answers to your questions in the wake of #Helene: fema.gov/helene-rumors

We do NOT take donations, money, or property from anyone for any reason. We do NOT ask for or generally accept any cash donations or volunteers for disaster response. If you encounter someone claiming to represent FEMA and asking for donations, be careful as that is likely a scam. Get the facts here: fema.gov/rumor-response

We have many types of assistance available, including financial support for people who are displaced and staying with family and friends, need home repairs, have personal property losses, and more To learn more about the different kinds of assistance we provide, visit: FEMA.gov/Helene. People in declared disaster areas can also apply for assistance in the language they speak by calling us at 800-621-3362, online at disasterassistance.gov or by downloading the FEMA App in both English and Spanish languages. #Helene

There has been a lot of misinformation about our assistance programs, and we encourage #Helene survivors to continue applying for support from us. Serious Needs Assistance (SNA) is one of many types of assistance we offer. It was designed to reach people quickly to purchase emergency items while we continue to process their application and determine what other assistance, they may be eligible for. ➡️ fema.gov/helene-rumors

During a disaster, it’s critical to avoid spreading false information. 🔹Rumor: FEMA will only provide $750 to #Helene survivors. 🔹 Fact: This is false. Disaster assistance isn't limited to one specific type or amount. The $750 Serious Needs Assistance is only ONE type of assistance available, and it is used to help pay for essential emergency supplies like food, water, baby formula, and medication. We also provide funding for temporary housing, home repairs, and more. fema.gov/helene-rumors

Across the Southeast, we're working closely with federal, state, tribal & local officials to respond to the impacts of Hurricane #Helene. Search & Rescue Teams continue life-saving missions in affected communities, completing more than 600 rescues so far. President Joe Biden has approved emergency declarations in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina & Tennessee, allowing federal resources to flow immediately as damage assessments are conducted. We will be there to support these communities for as long as it takes to help them recover from this devastating hurricane. ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eTNGBsvu
