The FF Podcast is back with an all new season of episodes! We kick off season 8 with a very special guest! Please welcome McKenna Whitham! Mak is the youngest professional player in the NWSL. At just 13 she signed with Gotham FC! Earlier this year Mak also became the youngest player to sign an NIL deal with Nike! Mak is also a member of the USYNT. We talk about her path to the pros, her daily schedule, the USYNT, her drive to be the best and how she navigates the pressure and the pushback she sometimes gets due to her age. Maks passion and motivation for this game is amazing and I think you all will enjoy this episode! We’d greatly appreciate if you can like, leave a review or share with a friend! Enjoy!

Very humbled and grateful on this Monday. Female Footballers hosted a private celebration and fundraiser in Atherton this weekend. Supporters, family, friends, clients, mentors, mentees and board members came together to celebrate our growth this past year and a half, since becoming a non profit. We highlighted our impact through a Q&A with one of our local NWSL mentors, Maya Doms. And we were so lucky to have her two teammates Maddie Moreau and Caroline Conti join us! Guests listened to Maya speak on her experience as a youth player and now a professional, heard from one of our amazing mentees Everleigh Porter on her growth through working with Mentor Cari Rocarro and heard from Board Member Jen Ratay introducing our new Leadership Funders Circle. We chose to be a non profit because we truly believe that mental performance skills, mentorship and leadership development should be accessible to everyone. We are So grateful to the many donations we received this weekend! We truly appreciate the support and feel the love and momentum! If you’re interested in making a donation to help our organization with mentor retention, scholarship opportunities and program development, please click on our donate button on our website or link in stories. If you’re interested in joining our leadership funders circle please email info@femalefootballers.org. Thank you to everyone who made this possible! So grateful!

#testimonialtuesday On Sunday at the SCU vs Stanford game we got a visit from our mentee Sofia. Sofia has been paired with mentor and pro player Adyson Willett this summer. Sofia stopped by to tell us how amazing our summer program was and how amazing Adyson is. She went further to say, “my confidence was not very strong at the start of summer but I truly feel so much more confident now.” Sofias mom said, “I felt my daughter, Sofia, learned invaluable skills from the summer mentorship program and through her mentor, Ady, particularly in building a growth mindset and managing pre-game anxiety. The program provided her with practical strategies to handle pressure and develop a resilient attitude, which will benefit her both on and off the pitch. It was an enriching experience that significantly boosted Sofia’s confidence and mental strength, especially through speaking with and receiving guidance from Ady, who has firsthand experience with the challenges young female athletes face.”

We are thrilled to have on Katie Steele and Dr. Tiffany Brown, the authors of the newest book, The Price She Pays! These family therapists and founders of the Athlete Mental Health Foundation ask the important question: What is causing the mental health crisis in women’s sports? Through first-hand accounts, research, and reporting, they reveal the deep layers of trauma and mistreatment women experience in their pursuit of excellence in sport. They show parents, coaches, and athletes how to recognize the signs of mistreatment and mental health issues, and reveal how, by focusing on the wellbeing of the whole person—not just the athlete— we can provide women and girls with the support they need to thrive, in whatever sport they choose, at whatever level they compete. Enjoy!
