About us

FemForward is an award-winning initiative consisting of 3 programs; FemForward Leaders, FemForward MENA & FemForward YoungLeaders (coming soon). The FemForward programs support participants by providing them with essential tools, invaluable networks, and tailored mentorship. We are currently running our 6th cohort of FemForward Leaders; the program with a proven track record that provides the tools for participants to progress in their careers as they face obstacles on the path up to senior leadership and specifically as they attempt to take on their first managerial position (known as solving the "broken rung"). This cohort consists of 32 women and is specifically focused on women affected by the war. Female leadership in a shared society is the future of the MENA region. It is this future that we are creating.

    ⭐ Meet the Alumni: Wesal (Manar) Awida, Machine Learning Engineer at BeeFree Agro ⭐ "My Journey in the FemForward Leaders Program: After seven difficult months since the beginning of the war, during which I could barely function aside from going to work and being at home, I enrolled in the FemForward program. At that time, I felt stuck — I couldn't focus on anything else, and the program was an opportunity for me to break out of that cycle and start taking care of myself, my personal and professional growth. This was the first thing I did for myself since October 7. During the sessions, I met strong and inspiring women. This was always important to me — to be in an environment of supportive and empowering women because only we can strengthen one another. I admired every woman in the program, especially the program leader, who gave each participant personal attention and support. This experience strengthened me in every way, and I learned so much from it. One of the goals I set for myself was to develop my skills in salary negotiations and advancing into a managerial position. Thanks to the support I received through the program and the guidance of my mentor, I was able to advance and achieve a significant salary increase. I had many other goals I wanted to start working on, but at the end of the program, I faced the hardest loss — my best friend, Major. Jalaa Ibrahem, a Company Commander in the 601st Combat Engineering Battalion, who fell during combat in the southern Gaza Strip. He had been serving in Gaza throughout the entire period of the war. I had planned to surprise him and tell him about the program because he had always been a supporter of empowerment and encouragement, and I knew how excited he would have been to see me progress. One of the participants in the program said something to me that has stayed with me ever since: ‘He is now your blessing for life, and he will stay in your heart forever, and no one can stop you. Always remember how much he supported you and wanted you to go as far as possible.’ This sentence gives me the strength to keep going and continue spreading his light." The FemForward Leaders program, with a proven track record, provides the tools, network, and tailored mentorship to enable 25 participants to progress in their careers as they face obstacles on the path up to senior leadership and specifically as they attempt to take on their first managerial position. This cohort is dedicated to women directly impacted by the war, recognizing the unique challenges they face and the urgent need for support during this critical time. Due to our waiting list from the last cohort, we only have a few spots left for Cohort #7. Applications will be open til Wednesday 9th October.     Finding a Job 😁 It's never easy... And during a time of war, it becomes even more challenging. Recruitment processes get delayed due to military reserve duties, positions open and close unexpectedly, and the uncertainty can be overwhelming. This is particularly true for roles in my fields of environment, sustainability, and innovation. Many tech companies have been hit hard by the war and the economic crisis. In the public sector and large institutional bodies in Israel, these fields are considered the crème de la crème. And when the reality demands budget cuts, we are often the first to feel the impact. So, as I’ve mentioned before, finding a position that truly fits me wasn’t an easy task. Fortunately, during my search, I participated in the incredible FemForward program, which I’ll elaborate on in a separate post. In that program, I had the privilege of meeting extraordinary, successful women, both my age and younger, who are destined to lead the industry in just a few years. The program equipped me with 2 amazing mentors and a package of soft skills that are absolutely essential , especially in today’s evolving work environment and amidst an extended conflict. But more than anything, it gave me the confidence to reach out to people, to listen, and to share my perspective as a researcher, product manager, and mother. I connected with dozens of experts, all of whom were fascinating individuals – I listened, I asked questions, and I clearly said what I wanted and what I was looking for. Most importantly, I wasn’t afraid to ask for help in making connections that could lead me to the right opportunity. And I’m happy to say that my networking efforts also allowed me to help others along the way. One person, in particular, decided that I was the perfect fit and didn’t pass me on. And now, I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve started a new job, one that fits me like a glove. I’m taking a moment to breathe a sigh of relief, but at the same time, I’m shifting into high gear in my new role. Of course, I can’t wrap up this post without expressing my gratitude... This journey wouldn’t have been possible without the support and willingness of the people I’ve met over the years. Some of you I met at conferences, some studied alongside me in academia, and others were part of my research. And yes, that includes those of you I worked with during my product management days and my relocation to California. I’ve started a new chapter, a “good job,” as my mom would say.
