A research team from Amazon was honored with a distinction in the 2024 FICO® Xpress Best Paper Award competition, acknowledging their outstanding research. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eM8sPhTW Their academic paper presents research on how to optimize an extremely large delivery network, using FICO® Xpress Solver to perform the vast calculations required, involving hundreds of millions of variables. “This kind of problem involves half a billion variables and constraints, and the Amazon team did breakthrough work in this area at this scale,” said Dr. Timo Berthold, director of Mixed-Integer Optimization at FICO who co-manages the contest. “Their work builds on resource-task networks, a modelling framework that is widely used in chemical engineering process design. The Amazon team developed a mixed-integer programming model that is solved by FICO Xpress and has wide applicability for extremely large computational problems with network flow underpinnings.” #optimization #optimisation #FICO #xpress

We released a new survey on consumers’ increased use of real-time-payments (RTP). The 2024 Scams Impact Survey: Canada shows that with the increase in RTP, there have been increased scam attempts and financial losses. To keep consumers feeling protected, banks must remain competitive in detecting fraud while also providing consumers with personalized customer experiences. Meet Elle L., Director of FICO’s Content Studio on the Design, Creative and Brand Team, based in Florida. Leading a team of talented designers, Elle and her team design and produce content for events, lead generation, presentations, and print. Elle is passionate about how visual and creative storytelling can humanize technology and connect with customers. She recalls first joining FICO and finding it “surprising to learn first-hand how human the FICO brand is and the many brilliant minds that go into our solutions and services. I have never met a bigger group of absolute brainiacs who are so talented and passionate about what they do. It is truly inspiring, and it pushes me to learn and grow every day.” Sharing advice for aspiring professionals, Elle emphasizes the need to “work hard and be passionately curious. Never stop learning and asking questions to those around you. If you are privileged enough to hire, always hire people who are smarter than you. And when all that hard work finally pays off and you get to the top,’ don’t forget to send the elevator back down.” Elle is an avid reader, loves yoga, cooking, and gardening.
