  • Is your credit union prepared to help build resilience for its members in the face of growing disasters? Our latest research brief, "How Credit Unions Can Respond to Disasters and Build Community Resilience," comes at a critical time as Hurricane Milton has impacted the entire peninsula of Florida—a 100-year storm for the Tampa Bay region. Following closely on the heels of Hurricane Helene, which affected numerous states and tragically claimed hundreds of lives, this report highlights the urgent need for credit unions to step up as a trusted part of the community. Through four credit union case studies, our storymap showcases how these organizations are addressing both fast-moving disasters like hurricanes and slow-moving challenges such as climate change through education, innovative low-cost products and services, and effective fundraising strategies. Supported by experts Mai Thi Nguyen and Ashley Archer Tindall, this comprehensive report is now available exclusively for Filene members. Always fun to nerd out on payments with our pals at Filene Research Institute. Yesterday's session at American Heritage Credit Union in Philly was insightful and fun as Professor Munir Mandviwalla educated and debated with us on ways to "liberate data and modernize practices" at credit unions. #VisaCommunity loves attending Filene Roadshows across the U.S. Join us at the next one!

What a day at American Heritage Credit Union for our final Roadshow of the year. They could not have gone above and beyond any more than they did. Such a great partner that made this roadshow such a success. Additional thanks to Jessica Gamache, PhD, Steve Sureda, Mark Alguard, Neil Dougherty, and especially Munir Mandviwalla for filling the day with vital information, thoughts, and ideas for the credit unions. We'll be coming out with our Roadshow schedule for next year soon. You don't want to miss it!!

We had an awesome time at the Filene Research Institute's Roadshow event in Philadelphia yesterday, hosted by our friends on the beautiful campus of American Heritage Credit Union. Ben Franklin took a moment from his busy day to pose with panel speakers Dr. Munir Mandviwalla, Joel Hartzler (MC), Dr. Jessica Gamage, my colleague Mark Alguard and Neil Dougherty. The key topic of learning how design can improve business and its impact on digital transformation, was centered around a presentation given by Dr. Mandviwalla, who is a Professor of Management Information Systems at the Fox School of Business at Temple University. Thanks so much to our friends at Filene, American Heritage and to the many credit executives who participated in the discussion.
