In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, we celebrate Deputy Director of the California Film Commission, Karla Diaz Sayles. Appointed by Governor Gavin Newsom on July 26, 2023, Karla spearheads the CFC's film permitting, location resources, and on-location production support, and runs the California Regional Film Office Partnership. She also manages day-to-day operations at the commission, including budgeting, communications, and strategic initiatives around DEIA, sustainability and workforce development.

The California Film Commission (CFC) Career Pathways Program is excited to announce the inaugural session of its Mid-Career Production Accounting (MCPA) Course. This interactive, online course will equip students throughout California with the skills and connections to advance their careers in television and film production accounting. The 8-week, distance learning opportunity starts on October 5, 2024. The course, supported by projects in the California Film & TV Tax Credit Program, is free to all those accepted. PRESS RELEASE: The California Film Commission awarded a total of $51.6 million in tax credits to nineteen projects set to film in California. Through the Film and Television Tax Credit Program, $39.6 million was allocated to three big-budget feature films and fifteen independent films, while another $12 million was awarded to a new television series through the Soundstage Filming Tax Credit Program.
