This week I wanted to share some research and personal observations regarding where&when small business owners (including Financial Advisors) should be promoting their personal political views: Nowhere. My research started a few weeks ago; right around the time Mr. Biden announced he was withdrawing from the campaign for reelection. I was working that week away from my hometown (we'll leave the specifics out) and I saw a sign stating "Biden Supporters need not enter"- this in front of a flooring and carpet store. First thing I thought was "wow, this person's business must be very strong that they can usher away 49% of the population (a guess at the time)". Point is, the internet has a long memory; nothing is really private and after the election, when the nation comes together, you run the risk of still off putting those who's points of view were not aligned with your own. We have come to expect this type of "grandstanding" and irrational behavior on outlets like "X", Facebook & Twitter; what I find amazing is that I see similar "door closing comments" right here on LinkedIn. You might end up deleting or changing the audience of that post but if someone liked; celebrated or shared it; you have lost control and one day those comments might come back to cause you harm.
