🌟 This past week, several representatives from the FRCE participated in the PNW Fire Conference, sharing valuable insights and expertise. Our managing director, Chief Frank Leeb, delivered an inspiring keynote lecture on the mindset needed for effective leadership in an evolving fire service. Brandon Dreiman and Dena Ali led two comprehensive 8-hour workshops on trauma and mental wellness, addressing critical topics like suicide prevention, behavioral health enhancement, substance use disorder, mindfulness practices, sleep improvement, and leadership development. They equipped attendees with essential tools for supporting mental well-being in the fire service. "It is our ability to learn and evolve that keeps us safe on the fireground, and this begins with training." - Chief Frank Leeb We are committed to fostering a culture of safety and support in our community! 🔥💪 #PNWFireConference #Leadership #MentalWellness

On Wednesday, October 16th Chief Dena Ali had the opportunity to present at the Northern Virginia Fire Rescue Leadership Development Institute "NVFR LDI" on the importance of inclusion and mental wellness. She discussed key topics like psychological safety, the role of learning organizations, and the significance of process accountability. The session included several meaningful conversations on the importance of speaking up, being candid, and cultivating awareness of our own biases. Participants shared personal experiences, enriching the learning environment and fostering a space for empathy. What is the NVFR LDI? “The Northern Virginia Fire and Rescue Leadership Development Institute (the LDI), was established in 2013 at the direction of the Northern Virginia Fire Chiefs Committee. To address an identified regional gap in leadership development, the Fire Chiefs Committee created a program designed to enhance the region’s fire and rescue leaders’ understanding of the art and science of leadership, as well as the practical application of management techniques and skills.”
