Despite facing an $11.7 million deficit, Steelton-Highspire School District became the first in Pennsylvania to fully transition to an all-electric school bus fleet. 🔌 🔋 🚍 This transformation, powered by six new electric vehicles funded through round one of the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)'s Clean School Bus Program, was achieved with a strategic investment from the district. In this District Administration Ed Talk, Superintendent Mick Iskric, Jr., Ed.D. will discuss his district's journey to embrace electric buses to reduce long-term costs. He will be joined by Kevin King, Senior Principal EV Consultant at First Student, who will explain how a flexible, rapid-deployment charging infrastructure helped Steelton-Highspire make electrification feasible and cost-effective, providing a blueprint for other districts facing similar challenges.
