In celebration of Pi Day, we highlight the Museum of Islamic Arts in Doha, Qatar, featuring intricate geometric patterns deeply rooted in mathematics principles.   Islamic architecture and design have often used circles, polygons, and tessellations, which all rely on pi. From mesmerizing chandeliers to inspiring domes, there is a harmonious relationship between math and art.   The chandelier in the main atrium measures 12 meters in diameter. The Obama Presidential Center | Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects In honor of Presidents' Day, we highlight the Obama Presidential Center, set to open in 2026 in Chicago, Illinois. Designed as an integrated campus that harmonizes with the surrounding landscape, the Center features independently accessible components at the plaza level, all seamlessly connected via an underground passage. The building’s façade will be constructed of concrete and will prominently feature President Obama’s You Are America speech, inscribed into its surface. At night, these words will be illuminated from within, ensuring they remain visible as a beacon of inspiration. "You are America. Unconstrained by habit and convention. Unencumbered by what is, ready to seize what ought to be. Carefully integrated lighting elevates the entire space and highlights architectural transitions, enhancing the feeling of height and airiness. Through the main entrance, the expansive two-story lobby is illuminated by a carefully integrated lighting design that enhances the space’s architectural details.
