We recently concluded our summer job training program with an exceptional visit to Mastercard’s Manhattan office! Our Fivers were treated to an insightful tour of Mastercard’s impressive workspace, got hands-on with the latest advancements in banking technology, and engaged in a thought-provoking panel discussion featuring four professionals from various levels and stages of their Mastercard careers. A huge thank you to Mastercard for their generous support and for creating such a valuable experience. This visit not only showcased the future of fintech but also inspired and empowered our Fivers with real-world insights and opportunities. 

Had a fantastic time today at Fiver Children's Foundation’s Alumni Summer BBQ with fellow Fiver Alumni and Alumni Board members! It was wonderful to reunite with the team, meet newer alumni members, and reconnect with Fivers I haven't seen in years. Fun Fact: Shola Jones (pictured in black behind me) was my very first Camp Fiver counselor 22 years ago! Much like how he was likely navigating his way dealing with many first-year campers like myself. I was learning what it was like to be independent and discover the power of friendship! SMBC Building Resilient Futures aims to enrich youth through the power of the outdoors. Through our support of the American Camp Association, we’ve had the privilege of funding the fine work of the Fiver Children's Foundation. To expand this support, our Americas Division Women’s Inclusion Network (WIN) launched a fundraiser to provide school supplies for the upcoming academic year to the young people served by Fiver. This week, SMBC employee volunteers gathered to connect with Fivers and distribute the donated supplies to Fiver families. #TeamSMBC #BuildingResilientFutures #GivingBack

Yesterday, our Fivers engaged with four professionals from Northwell Health in a dynamic panel discussion, interactive Q&A, and lively speed networking sessions. Our panelists (Claudette Hill, Chidubem Iloabachie, Stephanie Lorenzo, LCSW, Brandi Wilson, BSN, RN), each with unique roles in the healthcare sector, shared their inspiring personal journeys. They provided valuable insights into overcoming challenges and pursuing their passions, offering a glimpse into the diverse paths that have shaped their careers. A special thank you to the Scott J. Every year, the Fiver Children's Foundation supports diverse high school student leaders through their summer-long career readiness and college access program, connecting them with organizations, companies across industries, and universities. And every year, Google proudly opens its doors, hosting a half-day career readiness workshop filled with enriching experiences as part of its volunteer program called Google Serve. Last week was no exception. We witnessed firsthand the passion and drive of these young individuals as they explored career paths at #Google and honed their skills for internship interviews. From resume workshops and mock interviews to office tours, we created a day of valuable learning and connections. The energy was inspiring! It's a reminder of the power of community and mentorship. Events like this truly unlock lifelong opportunities for those from underrepresented backgrounds. Over a decade ago, the same program helped me land my first job after graduating from Lehigh University. That opportunity set me on a path of growth and success that I'm forever grateful for. I'm proud to be part of this journey, paying it forward and witnessing the impact firsthand. A heartfelt thank you to the incredible Fiver team (Melissa, Jessica, Michèle, and Christie) and the dedicated Googlers (Alyssa, Alexandria, Alexander, Aaron, Keona, Nico, Ida, Teniola, Kelsey, Gabriela, and Tiara) who volunteered their time and talents. Serving as a board member at Fiver Children's Foundation has been profoundly fulfilling. Fiver stands out for its unique mission of supporting youth from age 8, offering holistic programs from magical camp experiences to year-round support. Recently, we wrapped up a transformative camp weekend. Witnessing the power of unity and understanding among our youth, alumni, staff, and board members was incredible. By fostering connections and understanding through shared experiences, we glimpse a world where diverse backgrounds converge for the betterment of all children. Imagine a world where all children have access to such a supportive community.
