🔋 Last week, we attended Electrify Indiana and had the pleasure of speaking with industry leaders about the future of EV charging! 🌍 Jennah Denney from NRECA, Stephen Meers from CoServ, and Brian Grunkemeyer shared how to design managed charging programs for coops. Jennah showed how EV adoption was increasing pressure on coops to get a handle on EV loads, with specific data from their service territory. Brian shared best practices from our programs in the US, Australia, and Ireland, described how EV telematics work, and showed the unique value we bring to coops. Stephen shared the value CoServ sees in shifting charging to off-peak times based on their local constraints and discussed how CoServ and FlexCharging are working together to meet the needs of drivers outside Dallas & Fort Worth. #ElectrifyIndiana #CleanEnergy #EVCharging #Sustainability #FlexCharging

🔋 FlexCharging is Thrilled to Join the Conversation! 🔋 We're excited to be part of an upcoming event this Thursday, where we'll dive into the latest advancements in managed EV charging solutions. Our Director of Program Management, Jossi Fritz-Mauer, will be joining top industry leaders to discuss how utilities are enhancing their EV charging programs and integrating them with grid operations. 🌐⚡ 📅 Event Details: Date: This Thursday Topic: Innovations in Managed EV Charging & Grid Integration Join us to explore how managed EV charging can tackle the challenges of increasing EV adoption and the "second peak" from TOU load shifting. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to gain valuable insights into the future of energy and infrastructure! 🔌🚗 #EVChargingSolutions #ManagedCharging #EnergyInnovation #Utilities #FlexCharging #GridIntegration #Sustainability #FutureOfEnergy 🌍⚡
This Event will explore Darcy's refreshed technology landscape of managed #EVchargingsolutions, as well as how utilities are enhancing their managed EV charging programs by increasingly integrating them with grid operations (as they observe the "second peak" from TOU load shifting). Many #utilities are hard at work with designing and implementing managed #chargingprograms which aligns the needs of customers as well as the electric grid and the communities served by them. The opportunity for utilities to enable their customers’ decarbonization journeys is immense, but so to is the challenge to accommodate these new end uses while also upholding the physics of the electric grid. With our #ManagedChargingBenchmarkingStudy (administered last year), we delivered insights across 10 utility programs and found that most of them were focused on time-of-use (TOU) rate alignment, with a few also incorporating event-based demand response (often triggered by regional peak-load conditions). During the #study, utility staff mentioned that at current and near-term EV adoption levels, keeping EVs charging during off-peak TOU periods was adequate to avoid grid overloads. Yet, as more EVs hit the road, that adoption level will invariably reach a point where grid components will be challenged, likely by the “second peak” (when lower, off-peak TOU prices begin). Recent studies, like Kevala’s Multi-State #TransportationElectrificationImpactStudy, shows that when comparing unmanaged charging with managed, the latter “could substantially reduce incremental grid components needs, including for substations by 50%, feeders by 40%, and service transformers by 30%.” Further, consulting firm Synapse Energy Economics has found that “if implemented carefully, utility -funded investments can deliver benefits to all utility customers in excess of their costs,” meaning an increase in EVs can “reduce electricity rates for all customers by using the system more efficiently.” To achieve this greater utilization of existing infrastructure, and ultimately, a more cost-beneficial electric system (not to mention decarbonization of the transportation sector), some leading utilities have begun to test out different ways enhance to co-optimization of customer needs with the needs of the grid. Speakers: ⏩ Jossi Fritz-Mauer, Director of Program Management at FlexCharging ⏩ Steven Brisley, Head of Marketing at Camus Energy ⏩ Cyril Brunner, Innovation and Technology Leader at Vermont Electric Cooperative Led by Elizabeth (Edie) Wilson Wilson, Research Associate at Darcy Partners Visit the event page to follow the registration steps.
