FLORES is a network of 9 EU-funded projects working on next-generation redox-flow batteries
About us
To integrate renewable energy into the grid, energy storage systems are needed to balance out fluctuations in energy generation. Flow batteries are one of the most promising solutions. With a combined EU funding of >43.7 million €, 94 organisations from fourteen research projects are joining forces in FLORES to exploit synergies and publicise their results in this dynamic research field. The FLORES network is coordinated by the EU Project SONAR. Dear FLORES members & followers, It’s our pleasure to announce that we’re organizing an online workshop about flow batteries on October 24th 2024. On behalf of the MELODY Project, Hybris Project EU and CuBER projects, we offer a series of presentations about the highlights of current flow battery projects, and dive deeper into different flow battery developments. The idea is that we share highlights and insights from the EU-funded flow battery projects, as several of our projects are nearing completion. We will also discuss new opportunities for EU-funding on flow batteries in this workshop. Jens Noack from Fraunhofer ICT/ CENELEST has started a new ETN on flow batteries and there are new positions open on EURAXESS available. The Marie Skłodowska-Curie Doctoral Network PREDICTOR aims to establish a rapid, high-throughput method to identify and develop materials for electrochemical energy storage. At Fraunhofer ICT a PhD position on "Automated potentio-dynamic electrochemical characterization" and on "Electrochemical high-throughput analytics and electrolyte production" are available. The stack is one of the key components of a flow battery. How to design a sustainable stack on larger scales? This is the key research question of the EIC-Accelerator project Clean(S)tack by the company VANEVO, our newest member of FLORES network. It is our pleasure to invite you to Nordic Flow Battery Network’s (NFBN) Winter School at the University of Turku, Finland this year, on 13.-15-12.
