Grayston purchased the buildings at 119-123 N. Market St. and is working on selling the brewery equipment and transferring the liquor license to Bryan and Emily Wendt who want to lease and operate the pub. “I’m working with the Wendts, but we don’t have a signed lease yet,” Grayston said. “I want to help open the pub for the community.” The buildings also include an apartment and two retail spaces, one of which is currently occupied by a chiropractic business. https://lnkd.in/eS9yyEZ9 https://lnkd.in/eeeDDaX3

$1.5M NSF grant to launch AI-designed #biosensor #research project UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — To enhance biosensor development via artificial intelligence (AI) and offer STEM education opportunities to K-12 students from underserved communities, the U.S. National Science Foundation recently awarded researchers at Penn State a three-year, $1.5 million grant. The project is supported through the Designing Materials to Revolutionize and Engineer our Future (DMREF) program and seeks to address a longstanding challenge in the biosensor research: the inability to systematically identify the best materials for biosensors detecting specific molecules. These small devices are essential tools in diagnosing diseases, detecting harmful substances and identifying environmental contaminants. However, the process of developing biosensors is often time-consuming and inefficient. Image: Via a close collaboration among experimental scientists and computational scientists and academic, industry and government entities, the grant aims to use AI to enhance biosensor development. Reaching new heights: OLOL art director completes out-of-this world mural on Eighth Street SHAMOKIN — Matt Leavens has assisted in the creation of several area #murals, but the one he painted in the 500 block of North Eighth Street might be the most meaningful of his career. Leavens, director of the arts program at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional, hand-painted a 10.5-foot-high-by-43-foot-long mural on the vinyl siding of Bressi and Martin Real Estate. The mural features large depictions of business owner Maria Bressi’s Australian cattle dog mix, Foxy, and her first cat, Token, set on a celestial background. https://lnkd.in/ei2Bu8Fi
