Provide food to all in need through community partnerships and hunger-relief programs.
About us
The Food Bank for Larimer County's mission is to provide food to all in need through community partnerships and hunger-relief programs. In FYE 2024, the Food Bank for Larimer County provided more than 10.2 million pounds of food to those in need. 42% of this food was produce and 9.4 million pounds of this food was rescued, meaning it would have been thrown away if we didn't intervene. We distribute food through three primary programs: Fresh Food Share No-Cost Markets, kids and senior meals programs, and our agency partner network. Our Fresh Food Share No-Cost Markets are client-choice, meaning clients get to select the food that is right for them and their families. With locations in Fort Collins and Loveland, both shopping locations offer a selection of purchased, donated, and government-funded food to income qualifying individuals. While some programs and food options are limited to those using government-supported programs, anyone who is experiencing food insecurity can shop at our two no-cost market locations. The Nutritious Kitchen prepares more than 200,000 nutritious meals and snacks annually for children and seniors in our community, while our Agency Partner Network works with more than 120 nonprofit partner agencies to provide food to the clients they serve. These organizations include food pantries, soup kitchens, after-school programs, and domestic violence shelters, and more. An estimated 50,000 Larimer County residents facing food insecurity receive assistance from the Food Bank each year. Our collective services and programs saved clients $38.2 million last year alone.

Having regular access to healthy food should be a right, not a privilege. Proper nutrition lays the foundation for individual health and well-being, which benefits all of us. When individuals are well-nourished, the risk of disease decreases, leading to healthier communities. Husband and wife, Mike and Sharon, love to play pickleball, read murder mysteries — and volunteer with the #FoodBankforLarimerCounty. When asked what inspired them to #volunteer with the Food Bank, Mike gave a straightforward answer: “I don’t like to see people go hungry. That’s the main thing,” Mike said. “I think it’s just a disaster that people have to go hungry.” Thank you Mike and Sharon for all you do as volunteers to #fighthunger!" 🙏

We joined King Soopers for the grand opening for its newest store at 2535 S. College Ave. in #FortCollins. King Soopers does a tremendous amount to support our work to fight hunger. Every year, they donate hundreds of thousands of pounds of food rescue products to the #FoodBankforLarimerCounty. Last year alone, the Food Bank received 375,000 pounds of food from King Soopers! With #foodrescue making up ~25% of the food distributed, this partnership is key to ensuring we have various fresh and nutritious food options for those we serve in our #NorthernColorado community. Before they cut the ribbon, the crew also presented the Food Bank with a check that will provide the equivalent of 60k meals! 🙏 Congratulations to King Soopers on this new store, and thank you for all you do for your communities!
