A community free of hunger
About us
The Food Bank of Delaware, a member of Feeding America, formerly America’s Second Harvest – The Nation’s Food Bank Network, is a statewide nonprofit agency whose vision is a community free of hunger. Originally founded in 1981 as the Food Conservers, Inc., the Food Bank of Delaware has provided food assistance to Delawareans at risk of hunger for more than 25 years. Our vision is a community free of hunger. We work to achieve this by: - Providing low- and no-cost food to qualified feeding programs throughout the greater Delaware region; - Informing the greater Delaware community about hunger issues and food security; - Mobilizing support for anti-hunger efforts; - Training and empowering under- and unemployed individuals to fill needed positions within the food service industry; - And developing and implementing statewide feeding programs to assist low-income families, individuals and children.

Amanda Foulger oversees the day-to-day operation of our Milford Healthy Pantry Center, and she truly loves her job. She’s committed to providing the best experience to our neighbors when they come in. “I used to be in a position where I needed help, so I can connect with my actual neighbors. It’s great to be able to give back,” she said. You can meet Amanda and some of our volunteers at two volunteer recruitment open houses scheduled this week: 10-11 a.m. Wednesday and 1:30 – 2:30 p.m. Thursday. “Volunteers are essential here. The Healthy Pantry Center relies on volunteers; it’s difficult to provide quality service without them,” she said. To sign up for an open house, visit https://lnkd.in/e_b_gTMs!

Right now, Marty Smack feels like he’s in a good place. A student in our L.O.G.I.C. program in Milford, he’s able to focus on achieving personal and professional goals – but that wasn’t always the case. This 40-year-old father of four has faced challenges throughout his life – including living unhoused — and he’s ready to change trajectory. He wants to be a role model for his children, and that’s something that was missing in his life. “My kids are my number one motivator,” he said. Thank you, Sam's Club, for donating more than 400,000 pounds of food to the Food Bank last year! Sam's Club has been a longtime food donor partner, and twice each week, Food Bank drivers pick up fresh, nutritious food from the Dover store. Kayla Montgomery, general manager, is proud to be a part of that long-time commitment! Thank you, Sam's Club! 💚💛 #charitablegiving #delaware #foodbanks #donations #giveback #charity #nonprofits #foodbanks
