Because your food choices can change the world
About us
Food Empowerment Project seeks to create a more just and sustainable world by recognizing the power of one’s food choices. We encourage choices that reflect a more compassionate society by spotlighting the abuse of animals on farms, the depletion of natural resources, unfair working conditions for produce workers, the unavailability of healthy foods in communities of color and low-income areas, and the importance of not purchasing chocolate that comes from the worst forms of child labor.

Stand in solidarity with Amazon workers demanding better work conditions! 📣 The petition also states, “Since July, we’ve urgently requested a meeting with Amazon’s VP of Global Workplace Health & Safety, Sarah Rhoads, to address the company’s injury rate, which is more than double the industry average, and our experiences of being silenced and discarded after on-the-job injuries.” 📝 Sign the petition here:

Transporting sheep and goats to a slaughtering facility is likely the most traumatic experience of their brief life. One by one, they are loaded into large trucks, huddling together in fear for the final hours of their lives. During this time, the animals are deprived of food and water. Throughout the journey, the sheep and goats sense a multitude of unfamiliar sounds and smells and often travel through extreme weather conditions. If you have access to healthy foods, choose a vegan lifestyle. Going vegan (including refraining from wearing animal products such as “wool”) is one of the most direct ways to help end these cruel practices and the suffering of sheep, goats, other non-human animals, and the workers exploited by the animal agriculture industry. 🐐 Learn more here: https://buff.ly/2G11INY [ID: Sheep and goat eating grass together with text that reads, "Although the demand for sheep and goat "meat" has been steadily declining for many years, 2.2 million shape and over 600,000 goats were slaughtered for their flesh in 2020 in the U.S. alone.]

When we talk about food justice, we have to talk about food apartheid and the higher rates of health problems among Black and Brown communities, due to the lack of access to healthy foods. We have to talk about environmental racism that threatens the health of future generations. These forms of injustices are complicated and have many moving parts, but one thing is certain: There can be no food justice, without racial justice. Learn more on here ➡️ https://buff.ly/3OFdY7X
