Our dedicated staff on the ground in the Caribbean have shared devastating stories of families losing everything after Hurricane Beryl's relentless assault. In Jamaica, widespread power outages and blocked roadways have left many stranded. Over 1,000 people sought refuge in temporary shelters as 130 mph winds tore roofs off homes, while others face destructive flooding that stripped them of their homes and basic needs. Hurricane Beryl, the earliest Category 5 storm to ever form in the Atlantic, has devastated several islands in Grenada and knocked out power in 60 percent of Jamaica. Food For The Poor already prepositioned disaster preparedness kits, each with supplies for at least 250 families, in Jamaica, Grenada, St. Lucia, Trinidad and Tobago. Please keep all those recovering from Beryl in your prayers. 💙 To support our response to Hurricane Beryl and our overall disaster response program, go to https://lnkd.in/guVzJiYj

We’re prepared to respond with emergency supplies that have been prepositioned in areas that could be cut off during the storm. Jamaica was under a state of emergency as the powerful Category 4 Beryl scraped by the island’s southern coast Wednesday afternoon as this graphic from NOAA shows, with howling winds reported by midday in the capital of Kingston. Please keep our brothers and sisters in the Caribbean in your prayers this hurricane season. Stay tuned for updates.
