About us
Food52 is a next-generation cooking and home company that was named one of the world’s most innovative companies by Fast Company in 2022, with a monthly reach of more than 30 million people. From the beginning, the brand challenged the models of traditional media companies and retailers, combining content, commerce, and community around the belief that the kitchen is the heart of the home and food is the center of a well-lived life. Food52 connects a global community of experts and amateurs, supporting them with inspirational, useful content — recipes, videos, podcasts, cookbooks and more — and outfitting them with products that make them happy. In addition to a highly curated Shop representing hundreds of makers, the Food52 community of brands includes its in-house product line Five Two, lighting and lifestyle goods company Schoolhouse, and the heritage home brand DANSK.

Mid-Week Meet: Paul Hagopian - Content Creator, Food52 What do you do here? I work on the editorial team and write articles, contribute to our newsletter and help out with social content. Overall, I tell stories about people, food and the Food52 shop. How long have you worked here? I have been working at Food52 since January 2023 so about 1 year and 8 months. I started as an intern then became full time in July of last year. What is your favorite item in your home? It’s the Breville espresso machine that we used to sell at F52. Most mornings, I’ll make myself an Americano and a latte for my girlfriend. I like to make myself little treats with it, whether hot or iced drinks, maybe a little whiskey coffee after dinner. Tell us about a time when you turned lemons into lemonade. Back when I was cooking in restaurants, there was a time I had to stay super late and break down hundreds and hundreds of onions for this food truck event. In order to make the best out of the situation, I picked up a couple cases of beer, put on some music and ended up having a great time with a few coworkers who I’m still close with today. What are you currently working on? I’m working on an article about mixing alcohol with non alcoholic spirits. What is one thing we could do better? Right now we have breakfast tacos once a week (which is amazing)—but if we could have them every day of the week that’d be epic. What is your favorite product? My #1 product is the JK Adams cutting board that was given to me after we shot a video with them. I use it all the time for grilling, chopping vegetables, you name it! It definitely is something meaningful to me and an awesome product! Check out the JK Adams Cutting Board Here: https://lnkd.in/gYT9aMQs

Check out this episode of At Large featuring our founder Amanda Hesser She chats about our interconnected ecosystem and our dedication to work with heritage brands.
🎙️Episode 11: Amanda Hesser (founder of Food52) - Building a Digital Hearth Listen: https://lnkd.in/g4XHsa76 Cool, calm, and collected, you’d never peg Food52 founder Amanda Hesser as having an insatiable appetite for risk. Self-described as “impulsive” and described by others as “frighteningly ambitious,” Amanda comes off as conscientious and considered as she does intelligent and industrious. So what makes her tick? After following her sense of adventure and love of food to a chateau in Burgundy where she wrote about seasonal cooking, she went on to unexpectedly land a job writing for the food section of the New York Times, where she ultimately rose to food editor of the Times Magazine, and authored The Essential New York Times cookbook. Then in 2009, when internet media and food media were becoming intertwined, she co-founded Food52 as a website and marketplace for people who put food at the center of their life. In this conversation, Amanda talks about the interconnected ecosystem of Food52’s business model, including its strong community, advertising model, marketplace, and recent acquisitions for vertical integration with heritage brands. She’ll share stories of partnering with private equity investors, the importance of delighting customers in inefficient yet effective ways, and operating in “founder mode.” Prepare to be very hungry (and itching to make chocolate cake) by the end of this episode. Thanks to Primary Venture Partners who generously provided their office studio for this interview in NYC
