Healthy Food. Every Person. Every Day.

About us

OUR MISSION: Feeding the hungry today and solving hunger for tomorrow through community partnership. The Food Bank of Northern Nevada provides food assistance to families through a network of more than 155 partner agencies in a 90,000 square mile service area throughout northern Nevada and the eastern slope of the sierra in California. We serve more than 155,000 people each month, nearly half of whom are children and seniors. Last fiscal year, we provided more than 21 million meals to neighbors in need. The Food Bank also plays a leading role in collaborating with other committed northern Nevada community members and organizations to address the root causes of hunger. The Food Bank incorporated in 1983 and has operated as a 501C3 non-profit organization for more than 40 years. We have grown from a small pantry to a regional distribution center helping many families who struggle with hunger. We are a proud member of Feeding America, a network of more than 200 food banks.

  • It's #ThankfulThursday, and we’re excited to spotlight our incredible partners at Sprouts Farmers Market and Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation. Last month, we were honored to join a nationwide day of giving, during which the Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation generously supported organizations across the country dedicated to advancing nutrition and health programs for kids and adults. We're grateful to be part of this important initiative making a meaningful impact. And the support doesn’t stop there. Throughout the year, our local Sprouts stores continue to strengthen our community by partnering with the Food Bank of Northern Nevada through the retail rescue program. Last year alone, they donated an impressive 255,790 pounds of food, helping to nourish our neighbors and empower our network of partner agencies. A heartfelt thank you to Sprouts for their commitment to building healthier communities and fighting hunger year-round. Together, we're creating a brighter, healthier future for all. #SproutingHealthyCommunitiesDay

  • We want to express our deep gratitude for Walmart Foundation and Feeding America's support in making a difference for families at pantries like the school food pantry at Duncan Elementary School in Reno. Thanks to this grant, we introduced an innovative Order Ahead platform that allows families to easily choose and pick up the groceries they need at a time that works best for them. Site Coordinator Maria has seen firsthand how this program has transformed the pantry experience at Duncan. By providing a discreet, convenient option for families to access nutritious food, Walmart has helped us create a space that goes beyond food assistance—it's a place where dignity, community, and support come together. The impact of the Order Ahead technology has been profound, opening doors for families who may have felt overwhelmed by crowds or struggled to fit pantry visits into their busy lives. Now, more children are getting the healthy meals they need to thrive in school, and parents have peace of mind knowing there’s a reliable resource right in their community. Thank you, Walmart, for investing in solutions that empower families and help us nourish northern Nevada. Your partnership is truly making a difference.

Did you know Hidden Valley Ranch is celebrating 70 years? It was such an honor to be invited to celebrate this milestone anniversary with our friends at the Reno, NV location! We're pretty sure Brandon Morales, our donor services and insights manager, was living his best life, enjoying both the anniversary celebration and a festive, delicious lunch in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month. But the celebration didn’t stop there—Hidden Valley's amazing team rolled up their sleeves for an on-site volunteer session, packing over 900 lbs of food to support our mission. And in an extraordinary act of generosity, they donated $25,000 to the Food Bank of Northern Nevada. We are so grateful for their partnership and commitment to fighting hunger in our community!
