The most recent data shows that 39% of #FosterCare cases per year are due to parental drug or alcohol abuse. However, many parents who struggle with #Addiction can and do fight to overcome it. Patrick and Amanda were introduced to drugs by a neighbor during a challenging time. But when their children were removed, they committed to doing everything in their power to bring them home. Today, Patrick and Amanda live in a safe and sober home with their children. They now work for our partner Restore Hope, the organization that helped them every step of the way, as advocates for parents in the same situation. Read their incredible story on our blog! #Recovery #Reunification #ForOthers #ForOthersCollective

Working with Restore Hope is an honor and a pleasure. Their team is the real deal. Thank you for allowing us to partner with you!
I help communities solve complicated problems using a collective impact model and oversee the expansion of the 100 Families Initiative. Consultant/Connector/Housing Guru
How did I get here? I'm feeling grateful to be part of system change that positively impacts families every day. Despite the challenges, the passion to make a difference and belief in the ultimate benefit to families drives us forward. Yesterday, we got to listen to direct feedback from families and community partners that confirmed the effectiveness of our collective work. Outcome data and firsthand experiences further validate the impact. It's all about the relationships and the families served. This is kingdom work, and I am committed to championing it for the betterment of families along with Restore Hope's national strategic philanthropic partner, For Others Collective. Thank you to leadership that continues to support the work being done in the communities.

Social determinants of health (#SDOH) are areas of well-being by which a family’s stability can be measured. If a family experiences a crisis in one, they’re likely to experience a crisis in more. Understanding the #SocialDeterminantsOfHealth helps us step in the gaps to prevent children from entering #FosterCare and reunifying birth families. Learn more about the 13 social determinants of health (as identified by our partner Restore Hope) on our blog and how we use them to inform our approach to ending the #ChildWelfare crisis. #ForOthers #ForOthersCollective

The road to #reunification for parents whose children were placed in #FosterCare can be long, difficult, and confusing. Without guidance or support, many otherwise loving families struggle to navigate the requirements or make progress on complex issues. Thankfully, Sarah and Mark found #FamiliesCount, a state-approved parenting class created by our partner, Lifeline Children's Services. After attending Families Count at their local church, the couple has gone from instability to employment, housing, and most recently, marriage! They're well on their way to safely reunifying with their children. Chase bounced in and out of #FosterCare throughout his childhood, his future uncertain. As a young boy, he occasionally found himself getting into trouble. But rather than get the then 13-year-old the help he needed, his community pulled away from him, choosing to isolate him instead. At 18, Chase arrived at Timothy Hill Ranch, one of our Stillwaters partners. Their residential and life skills program became his first consistent support system. The staff showed him love and guidance from the start, and Chase began to understand his worth. After countless milestones, Chase’s confidence has soared, and his future looks bright. “No one would want to be my family,” Chase remembers thinking as a young boy. Now, he knows, “I have value.” Read Chase’s full story on our blog! #TransitionAgedYouth #TimothyHillRanch #ForOthers #ForOthersCollective

When children must be removed from their homes, #SiblingGroups (especially large ones) often get split between foster homes. Not only do these children lose their parents, but they also lose their brothers and sisters. Why do siblings become separated so often? The answer is that there aren't enough #FosterHomes to take in more than one or two children. An already traumatic experience elevates to even more heartbreak and hurt. Thankfully, we can change that. Visit our blog to read how keeping sibling groups in #FosterCare together significantly improves their outcomes and what we can do to help! #forothers #forotherscollective #childwelfare #fosterfamilies

The third and final tier of our Well-Being Support Ecosystem is #CommunityEmpowerment. (To see the first two, visit our page.) Community empowerment allows towns and neighborhoods to build strong relationships and unite community members in a network of support. When a community comes together to care for each other, local problems can be solved by local solutions, meaning help is never far from those who need it. Our partner, CarePortal, makes it easy for at-risk children and families to connect with this network in their time of need. Visit our blog to hear from Adrien Lewis, founder and president of #CarePortal, on how they've seen community empowerment lead to lasting change for many children and families! #forothers #forotherscollective #childwellbeing #childwelfare

If preservation isn’t possible, the next tier of our Well-Being Support Ecosystem is recruiting and retaining #IdealFamilyPlacements. But what makes a placement “ideal”, and why does it matter? The most ideal placement is #KinshipCare. A kinship placement keeps the child with their relatives and maintains important familial relationships. In cases where kinship isn’t available, the next best ideal placement is a #FosterFamily within the child's neighborhood. Keeping kids close to home minimizes the trauma of removal, as their surroundings, school, friends, and cultural connections remain the same. We spoke with Ben Sand, CEO of our partner The Contingent, whose groundbreaking model is changing how we recruit and retain ideal family placements. Ben shares more in our blog. Read it below! #thecontingent #forothers #forotherscollective #fostercare

One of the most effective and crucial ways to end the #ChildWelfare crisis is family preservation and reunification. In both cases, many families could stay together or reunify quicker if they receive the help they need promptly. Yet many families don't know what resources are available, and organizations often don't communicate with each other to wrap around families holistically. Paul Chapman is the director of Restore Hope, one of our partners making significant waves in solving those very problems. The incredible results speak for themselves, so we sat down with Paul to discuss the importance of #FamilyPreservation and #Reunification and how their 100 Families model is reversing trends throughout their state. Read their amazing story below! #forothers #forotherscollective #childwellbeing
