BABY PEANUTZ IS DOING INCREDIBLE! 🐈 This little guy is a fighter; after just one week of the antiviral treatment, Peanutz's energy levels have significantly increased; his appetite has much improved; his eyes are brighter and he is grooming himself again! 😽 Peanutz had a check-up and bloodwork on Friday, his red blood cell count has increased but is still lower than normal. He was given an antibiotic injection that lasts two weeks to help with anemia. Peanutz now weighs 3 lbs up from 2.3 lbs on October 6th! 🙌 We have ordered Peanutz’s next two weeks of the life-saving treatment and his bloodwork and weight will be rechecked in 14 days. PRINCESS IS HAVING LASER SURGERY TOMORROW! 🙏 Princess, a beautiful kitty from Michigan, was diagnosed with Ceruminous Cystomatosis, a non-cancerous skin disease that causes blue-gray or purple lesions to appear. The lesions in Princess's ears have become so large that they obstruct her ear canal, which disrupts her normal self-cleaning routine, resulting in chronic ear infections. 😿 The only effective treatment for this condition is carbon dioxide laser ablation therapy, estimated to cost around $1,800.00. PRAYERS AND HEALING THOUGHTS FOR TACO! 🌮 Taco, a senior kitty from West Virginia has been patiently waiting for her dental surgery to extract her teeth due to a painful condition called Stomatitis that causes inflammation and ulcers in her mouth, including the gums, cheeks, and tongue. Apart from her oral disease, at 12 years old, Taco is very healthy otherwise. Taco and her furry companions were rescued off the streets as kittens; their mom has done everything she can to provide a safe and happy home with lots of love and snuggles but could not afford Taco's surgery cost. She reached out to us for help and we have scheduled Taco's surgery for tomorrow! 😽 This surgery represents a lifeline for Taco, promising relief from pain and a chance at an improved quality of life in her golden years. 💫 Comet, a cherished tabby girl from New Jersey, has been struggling with a painful condition. Comet was frequently going in and out of the litter box and often urinating outside of it. 😿 Her mom saw blood in her urine and immediately took her to a local veterinary clinic for an exam. A urinalysis showed that Comet had a bacterial infection and was treated with antibiotics. However, after two weeks, Comet was still exhibiting signs of urinary stress. She was prescribed Amitriplyine, a medication used to treat Feline Idiopathic Cystitis (FIC) however, her symptoms persisted. 💔 X-rays later revealed that Comet had bladder stones, and they have not resolved with a prescription urinary diet. Heartbreakingly, Comet continues to suffer and now urgently needs surgery to remove the stones and ease her pain. Comet’s surgery has been estimated between $1,636.09 - 1,836.09, however, Comet's mom can not afford it. She has paid over $600.00 so far for Comet’s veterinary care and applied for care credit but was denied, and with the increase in the cost of day-to-day living expenses, she barely gets by. AHI HAS BEEN FITTED WITH A BLOOD GLUCOSE MONITOR! 🙀 Ahi was recently diagnosed with Diabetes and severe periodontal disease. Ahi was prescribed Vetsulin (insulin) and is given 2 units twice a day to manage his condition. Ahi desperately needs a dental cleaning with extractions. However, his veterinarian wants Ahi's BG levels to be stable before putting him under anesthesia. Last week, Ahi was fitted with a FreeStyle Libre 3 BG monitor that syncs to an app on Ahi's mom's cell phone and supports features such as current glucose, direction glucose is going (trend arrow), and glucose alarms indicating high, low, or signal loss alarms. 😻 This will enable Ahi's BG levels to be monitored throughout the day and give his veterinarian valuable information to help stabilize Ahi's levels more quickly. Ahi was also given an antibiotic injection to help with his dental issues. Ahi will have a recheck in two weeks and the monitor replaced. Ahi's mom said, "Ahi seems much happier; his legs are no longer giving out, has gained some weight and he is talking up a storm!"😽 We will have more updates on Ahi soon! HUDSON IS HEALING WELL! 🐶 We helped Hudson, an adorable pup from New Jersey, a few weeks ago with the cost of his surgery to remove painful bladder stones. 12- 16 stones were removed from his bladder. 🙀 Hudson had his urine rechecked and sutures removed this week. Hudson's urinalysis showed high concentration, so his veterinarian suggested adding water to his urinary prescription diet to help dilute it, as Hudson does not drink enough. Hudson's surgery site incision has a small area that is still healing, so he will need to wear his "cone of shame" for a few more days. As a reward for being such a good boy, his parents took him down to the beach for some fresh air and exercise. Hudson's urine will be rechecked again in two weeks. JOIN THE FIGHT TO SAVE PEANUTZ! 🤺 Peanutz, a tiny little kitten from Delaware, was diagnosed with dry Feline Infectious Peritonitis (FIP), a disease that, in its early stages, causes lethargy, decreased appetite, weight loss, and fever. As the disease progresses, it causes inflammatory cells to accumulate in various organs and can be fatal. However, there is a treatment, and FIP is curable! The virus is shed through feces and is often contracted during the first few weeks of life. FIP is associated with a viral infection called Feline Coronavirus. Unfortunately, it can mutate and cause FIP in some cats.😿 Peanutz was abandoned by his furmom at the tender age of two weeks; luckily, he was rescued, and his furever mom bottle-fed him and nursed him back to health. However, at 12 weeks, Peanutz suddenly stopped growing, began losing weight, and was not the spirited kitten he once was. Peanutz is 4 1/2 months old and weighs only 2.5lb, a weight that usually a six-week-old kitten would weigh. His mom reached out to an FIP support group, which helped her secure a week’s supply of the life-saving antiviral treatment. Peanut has started his first week of treatment. However, Peanutz will need to be treated for 84 days, and his bloodwork will be repeated on days 30, 60, and 83, plus, he will need immune-boosting supplements and ultrasound. We have raised 80.2% so far, but we still need a little help with his follow-up appointments, bloodwork, ultrasound, and B12 and liver supplements. DO YOU NEED SOME GOOD NEWS TODAY? 😽 We helped Toasty, a handsome pup from Pennsylvania, a few weeks ago after his mom discovered he had a growth on the back of his right wrist that was causing him to limp and was painful to the touch. A needle aspiration of the growth came back inconclusive; Toasty's veterinarian recommended removing the growth and sending it to the laboratory for analysis. However, Toasty's family is low-income and could not afford his surgery cost. Luckily, Toasty's mom heard about us on Great Nonprofits and applied for help. Toasty's story tugged at our heartstrings, he had been rescued from an abusive home and found a safe and loving family who he learned to love and trust. Toasty self-appointed himself as an emotional support pet for a young family member with autism who absolutely adores him. Toasty plays a crucial role in helping his family navigate through their toughest days. We had to help this pup and his family. 🐶 Once in surgery, Toasty's surgeon found that the growth was wrapped around a delicate tendon and was not able to remove it entirely. A large sample was sent to the laboratory, and the pathologist's report stated that the growth was NOT cancerous! 🙌 The growth was due to a previous injury or a tear to the ligament that caused excessive scar tissue. Toasty may continue to have some inflammation. However, Toasty is no longer in pain. Toasty had his sutures removed yesterday, and his surgeon has given him a clean bill of health.
