GOMEZ HAD SURGERY AND IS DOING WELL! 😻 Gomez had surgery to surgically remove excess eyelid tissue due to a painful eye condition called Entropian that caused his eyelids to grow inward, leading to a cornea ulcer in his left eye. 😿 Both of Gomez's upper eyelids were trimmed to prevent fur or hair from rubbing and further damaging the surface of his eyes. Without this surgery, Gomez would have gone blind. Gomez is doing well post-op; he will wear his cone for 10 days until the sutures can be removed. Gomez will be treated with a topical eye lubricating gel twice daily for the rest of his life which will help soothe and keep his eyes moist. FRANKIE'S LEG WAS FRACTURED AFTER HE WAS VICIOUSLY ATTACKED! 🙀 Frankie enjoys going out for leashed walks with his mom in the backyard; a sudden and unexpected turn of events has left him seriously injured. 💔 Frankie, a beloved Minnesota furbaby was attacked by a neighboring dog that had strayed and was seriously injured. Luckily, his mom’s swift action undoubtedly saved his life! She managed to intervene and get the attacking dog off Frankie. Frankie had had multiple bite wounds on his body and legs; Frankie’s mom rushed him to the Emergency Veterinary Hospital. She paid almost $500 for the Emergency room visit where they treated his wounds and an x-ray revealed that Frankie had a fractured radius and ulna that needs to be surgically repaired. However, the surgery to save Frankie’s leg has been estimated between $3,914.11 and 4,036.88. His mom is low-income and spent everything she had on Frankie's emergency room visit and the dog’s owner could not be found. 😿 Frankie’s wounds on his body are healing, but he needs your help with the cost of his surgery. PRAYERS & DONATIONS NEEDED FOR CHEDDAR! 🐈 We were contacted overnight about a precious Illinois kitty who was exhibiting signs of a urinary tract blockage. Cheddar's mom noticed that he was going in and out of the litter box but was only producing droplets of urine. She took him to a local Vetco Clinic and they recommended catheterizing Cheddar however, they are not an overnight veterinary hospital and Cheddar would have been discharged that evening or transferred to an emergency veterinary hospital. Cheddar's mom is permanently disabled and receives a poultry income of $1,095.00 a month. She could not afford the estimated cost of $1,200.00 to hospitalize and treat Cheddar for 12 hours. 😿 Due to the financial cost, Cheddar's mom opted to take him home with antibiotics and pain medication. However; Cheddar has not improved in 24 hours and his condition was deteriorating. She contacted us desperately asking for help for her precious boy. She said, "He's the sweetest big boy with thumbs. He's silly and playful. We rescued him from a neglectful neighbor when he was small. Please help him." Cheddar is currently hospitalized at a local veterinary hospital; we put a $600 deposit down and he has been catheterized and receiving IV fluids to flush the debris from his bladder and urethra. Depending on how Cheddar responds to treatment he will be hospitalized for at least 72 hours. Due to the urgency of Cheddar's condition, we used funds from the Emergency Fund to get him the life-saving medical care he needs. The Emergency Fund is critical to our mission; the Emergency Fund steps in when we do not have time to fundraise for a pet that needs emergency life-saving veterinary care now! UPDATE ON LITTLE TOTO! 🐕 Toto, an adorable little guy from Massachusetts needs surgery to amputate his tail due to a cancerous tumor and remove 3 smaller fatty growths from his back, side, and head, unfortunately, his surgery had to be rescheduled. 😿 Toto developed a skin infection near the upcoming surgery site and his veterinary surgeon recommended temporarily delaying the surgery until the infection has cleared up. Toto's surgery has been rescheduled for September 17th, giving enough time for the skin infection to resolve. The good news is that Toto had his pre-surgical bloodwork run and everything came back within normal limits. We used funds from our Emergency fund to pay for the additional cost of Toto's medications to treat his skin infection and the pre-surgical bloodwork. We will have more updates on Toto soon! His surgery has been tentatively scheduled for Friday. 🦮Toasty, a very handsome pup from Pennsylvania surgery has been scheduled for September 24th to remove a painful tumor on the back of his right wrist. 🌮 Taco, a young senior kitty from West Virginia is patiently waiting for her oral surgery to remove the remainder of her teeth due to a debilitating oral disease called Stomatitis. Surgery has been scheduled for September 16th. 🐕 Toto, a cute little guy from Massachusetts surgery has been scheduled for September 17th to amputate his tail due to a cancerous tumor growing at the base of his tail. Toto's surgery was rescheduled due to a skin infection. 😻 Whisky, an adorable kitty from Arizona, had surgery to remove a growth in his paw pad. The surgery went well; his paw was wrapped for 3 days and the growth was sent to the pathologist and it was not cancerous! 🙌 🐈 Snowbaby, a handsome boy from Virginia had Radioactive iodine therapy (I-131) to cure hyperthyroidism and is doing great! Snowbaby was diagnosed with high blood pressure however; a daily medication will help manage his BP. He will have a check-up in a few weeks. 🐈⬛ Hawi, the Hawaii kitty, had a slight setback after his surgery to remove painful bladder stones. He developed a urinary tract infection and was prescribed antibiotics. Hawi has fully recovered and his mom said he is doing amazing! 🐈 Snickers, a beautiful princess from Michigan has fully recovered from painful pancreatitis much to the delight of her devoted elderly parents. 😽 Sweet Loki, a kitty from Oklahoma, received her monthly treatment to manage her irritable bowel disease. 😋 Khaleesi, Kilo, Miko, and Max received prescription food from Chewy to manage their medical conditions. CAT LOVERS 😽 PLEASE HELP GOMEZ! 🙏 Cutie Pie Gomez faces a significant health challenge. His eyelids have grown inward, leading to a cornea ulcer in his left eye. While he is currently receiving ophthalmic medications to manage the pain and pressure, the only long-term solution lies in corrective surgery. Without surgery, Gomez's eyesight hangs in the balance, and the prospect of losing his vision looms ominously. Gomez is a young cat of around 2 years old, he found his way to his forever home during a harsh West Virginia winter. Cold, hungry, and alone, he was lucky enough to stumble upon a caring animal lover who opened her door and heart to him. Since then, Gomez has been thriving and living his best life for the past year and a half. He gets along famously with the other kitties and is a total love bug. 💗 The situation is further complicated by the financial constraints faced by Gomez's devoted mom who juggles the responsibilities of caring for Gomez’s medical condition and her mother, who battles dementia in a long-term nursing home, Gomez's mom finds herself stretched thin. Despite being her mother's sole provider of comfort items like preferred adult diapers and engaging activities such as sticker books and puzzles, the financial strain is palpable. Surgery has been estimated between $874.71 - $960.71, however, she maxed out her care credit and the looming cost of Gomez's necessary surgery adds another layer of heartbreak to an already challenging situation.
