As Dorothy famously said, "There's no place like home." Next month, we’re headed back home to our training center in the Greater Chicago area to present our Advanced Body-Worn Cameras: Video Technology and Human Perception course. There’s no doubt that digital video and officer body-worn cameras (BWCs) have become essential tools for investigations, accountability, and law enforcement transparency. This course is designed to give participants a comprehensive understanding of the advantages, disadvantages, and limitations of digital video, with a special focus on the often-overlooked human performance factors during public and law enforcement interactions. By deep diving into these human performance factors within a law enforcement context, the course enhances participants' understanding of BWC technology and the key differences between digital recordings and human witnesses. Participants will develop the professional expertise and scientific research skills needed to apply human factors principles effectively. Additionally, they will gain a deeper understanding of digital video technology, ultimately promoting more thorough and informed investigations.
