As part of the festivities leading up to the Stuart Boat Show, MIATC wanted to pay special tribute to 50 successful years during our inaugural Marine Industry Economic Impact Breakfast. We filled the main dining room at TideHouse Waterfront Restaurant with about 80 MIATC members and business leaders who all showed up early for networking, then stayed for informative presentations from the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) and Twin Vee PowerCats / Aquasport Boats / Forza X1. Ben Murray, Director of State Government Relations with NMMA, spoke about the state of the marine industry and how Florida remains the boating capital of the world with its nearly $32 billion economic impact. Carrie Gunnerson, CFO of Twin Vee, shared updates on each of her companies: the expansion of Twin Vee; Aquasport’s new partnership with Hyundai and Avikus introducing AI-based autonomous boat technology; and the recent introduction of Forza X1 - a brand new line of all-electric boats. The event concluded with a request from Ted Astolfi, CEO of the Economic Council of Martin County, for MIATC members and other local businesses that depend on a thriving marine industry to complete an economic impact survey currently being conducted by the Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council. The purpose of this study is to gather information from businesses on how the marine industry continues to grow here on the Treasure Coast, which in turn provides insight into education, training and business expansion.
