About us
Fotolanthropy is a 501(c)(3) organization that creates powerful films that share true stories of strength and hope. Creators of the award-winning documentaries: 7 Yards: The Chris Norton Story, Travis: A Soldier's Story, and The Luckiest Man, Fotolanthropy documents the experiences of remarkable people who have modeled extreme resilience. Fotolanthropy's current film project will chronicle the incredible true story of suicide prevention advocates, Kevin Berthia and Kevin Briggs. In 2005, Kevin Berthia was battling depression and went to the Golden Gate Bridge with the intention to jump. This is where he met Sergeant Kevin Briggs, who was on patrol. Deemed the “Guardian of the Golden Gate” due to his efforts that have kept more than 200 people from jumping off the bridge, Briggs listened to Berthia for 92 minutes. Ultimately, Berthia made the decision to come back over the rail, choosing hope. This moment was captured by a nearby photographer and the resulting image has been shared globally. Their story of human connection shares just how powerful being there for one another can be. In producing this film, we seek to serve hope to those who feel alone and share a message that recovery is possible.
