Earlier this year, the funding period ended for grants we awarded to 6 schools in Appalachian Kentucky to improve physical activity and nutrition for kids. They used the evidence-based Coordinated Approach To Child Health (CATCH) model. Let's celebrate some of the successes from the programs! 🏫 #schoolhealth Read about it here: https://lnkd.in/eFx-RZCd

Working to address the unmet health needs of Kentuckians.
About us
The Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky is a non-profit, philanthropic organization. Our mission is to address the unmet health care needs of Kentuckians. We invest in communities and inform health policy through research, education and grant making. The foundation has two key, interrelated areas on which to focus our work through 2017: 1. Promoting Responsive Health Policy - To make public policy more responsive to the health and health care needs of the people of Kentucky 2. Investing in Kentucky's Future - To improve the health of Kentucky's children by engaging communities in testing innovative strategies. The Foundation makes grants, supports research, funds local pilot projects, holds educational forums and convenes communities to engage and develop the capacity of the Commonwealth to improve the health and quality of life of all Kentuckians. Amendment 2 will be on Kentucky’s ballot for the general election in November. If approved by voters, state legislators would be given the authority to use public dollars to fund private schools, something that is currently banned in Kentucky’s state constitution. This would hurt the only quality education that is available to all and not just a few, and put our future generations at greater risk of poor health. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eqPvNNDZ

We must not overlook the importance of finding moments to reflect on our successes! With gratitude to Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky, we celebrate the remarkable achievements of five Kentucky schools that embraced CATCH’s Whole Child Guided Journey last school year. Each school established a dedicated CATCH team and actively led school-wide health and wellness initiatives. Feedback from CATCH Champions and the yearbooks they've created highlight the improvement felt in their schools’ culture of health and well-being. Here’s to continued success and a fantastic new school year ahead nurturing the minds, hearts, and bodies of students!

People with higher levels of education are more likely to be healthier and live longer. Because of the link between health and education, it is essential that every child has access to a quality education. A properly funded public school system is the only way to guarantee access for all Kentucky kids. Read why Amendment 2 is bad for the health of children in Kentucky: https://lnkd.in/eqPvNNDZ
