***ANNOUNCEMENT*** We have officially launched our first program and begun providing a basic income to several homeless individuals in Arizona! We are in business, and a huge thank you to all of our supporters who have enabled us to reach this point 🙏 We remember many people having questions, and wanting a dedicated space to understand Universal Basic Income and why, according to our research, it can end homelessness and poverty with no downsides. So, we've designed an event entirely for talking about UBI and understanding its full implications - especially for combating homelessness. Please join us for a conversation on homelessness & basic income on Sunday September 22nd from 2-4 PM at the following address: 1881 E Del Rio Dr, Tempe, AZ 85282 In addition to a great conversation, we're going to: • Run a 50-50 raffle with a twist. Half of the money raised will go to one random raffle ticket holder. The other half will be evenly distributed to every attendee at the event. Distributions will be rounded down to the nearest whole dollar. Get on board for the first ever (that we know of) UBI Raffle. • Provide snacks and refreshments. • Provide an update on The Logical Foundation's Maximum Impact Program - we may even be able to bring one or more of our participants.

We are thrilled to announce that we will begin our Maximum Impact Program in July 2024, providing unconditional basic income to six homeless veterans, families, and individuals experiencing homelessness in Maricopa County Arizona. https://lnkd.in/gWK52xV6 Program Details Group A: Two participants will receive 6 transfers of $100 per month for 6 months. Group B: Two participants will receive 6 transfers of $200 per month for 6 months. Group C: Two participants will receive 6 transfers of $300 per month for 6 months. Participants will be selected via randomization in partnership with local service providers. Program Philosophy and Expected Impact While the transfer amounts in our program are modest, data from our partners across America indicates that a stable foundation of basic income, even if small, may empower people experiencing homelessness to regain stability. This program structure will enable us to collect useful, although not statistically significant, qualitative and quantitative data that will inform future programs and policy decisions. When the Denver Basic Income Project began providing Unconditional Basic Income to people experiencing homelessness, they chose to have an "active control group". Group C participants received 12 monthly cash payments of $50 for a total of $600 over 12 months. Group C was intended to be a control group from which to compare the impact of the first two groups, but something strange happened. Out of the 73 participants in the DBIP’s Group C who were sleeping outside or in homeless shelters at the beginning of the program (a narrow definition of homelessness), fewer than 26 remained in those conditions after only 6 months. A 64% reduction in sheltered & unsheltered homelessness. At the same time, Miracle Messages released its interim report of six-month findings. They opted to use a waitlist to capture outcome data for their control group of people experiencing unsheltered and sheltered homelessness. Out of the 27 people in their control group who reported spending time unsheltered in the past month, 23 remained in the same situation 6 months later. A mere 15% reduction. What we want to know: Is a small basic income almost as effective as a big one at reducing homelessness? Our program will have 6 participants who will receive between $100 to $300 per month for six months. We cannot be highly confident we will see broad positive results given the small sample size, but if the impacts seen by our partners hold true for our program, we will change the likelihood of each of our participants remaining homeless after 6 months from 85% to less than 36%. Upon completion of the program, we will report our true outcome data for housing, mental health, jobs, and more. Huge thanks to our supporters, or volunteers, donors, sponsors, advisors and everyone else that helped us get to this point.

We've officially hit our campaign goal! With over $10,000 of donations (including in-kind), we are in a great place to launch our first program and begin making a direct impact in the flight against homelessness in Maricopa Country. Over the next week we'll announce the final details of our program and begin executing. Thank you, we could never have accomplished this without your support!

We are thrilled to announce that, thanks to your generosity, we have raised over $9,000! Thank you for supporting our mission to end poverty through unconditional basic income. With less than a week left to hit our $10,000 goal, we need your help to push us over the finish line. Your support right now will decide the size and scope of our first basic income program, which will empower our neighbors suffering from homelessness to transform their lives and re-enter society. https://lnkd.in/gemEn7-n
