🌟 Folks of Four County 🌟 We're excited to shine the spotlight this week on Samantha Horrell, our newly promoted Senior Warehouse Coordinator! 🎉 Samantha has been with Four County EMC for 1 year and 7 months, starting in March of last year. In her free time, she loves crocheting, spending time with her church family, and playing frisbee with her dog, Tilly, in the yard. When it comes to the culture at Four County EMC, Samantha's favorite part is the people. "I love that my coworkers often stop by my desk just to say hey, and everyone is always so helpful. It's a great environment to work in," she says. Congratulations on your promotion, Samantha! We’re lucky to have you on the team. 💚 #FourCountyEMC #FolksofFourCounty

About us
Four County Electric Membership Corporation was established in 1937 by a group of community leaders working together to bring electricity to the rural areas. The first lines were built in 1938 with a loan from the U.S. Rural Electrification Administration. Today, more than 5,000 miles of overhead, underground, and transmission lines provide reliable electric service to over 32,500 services which include residences, farms, businesses, industries, churches and schools. As a Cooperative, Four County operates on a not-for-profit basis, with the Co-op members as its owners. Through a member-elected Board of Directors, each person is given a voice in how the Co-op is operated. This Board of Directors is elected in staggered three-year terms at the annual meeting, with each member having one vote. MISSION To provide highly reliable electric services, innovative energy solutions and outstanding service to our Members and Communities.

🔌 Steps to Restoring Power 🔌 At Four County EMC, we follow a strategic order to restore power as quickly and safely as possible during an outage. Here's how the process works: 1️⃣ Transmission Lines These high-voltage lines move bulk electricity from generating plants to substations. A problem here could affect several thousand members. 2️⃣ Substations Substations regulate voltage and distribute electricity. An issue here can impact all members served by that substation, potentially affecting thousands. 3️⃣ Main Distribution Lines These 7,200 to 14,400-volt lines run along roadways, serving consumers from the substation. Problems on these lines can cause outages for hundreds of members. 4️⃣ Tap Lines Tap lines carry power from the main distribution line to a smaller number of members. If these lines are affected, power will be restored only after the main lines are repaired. 5️⃣ Individual Service Finally, if the issue is with the line running from the transformer to your meter, only your service will be impacted. We want to extend our deepest gratitude to our incredible crews who have been assisting with mutual aid in restoring power to our sister co-ops, Rutherford EMC and Blue Ridge Energy, in the western part of the state. They’ve been away for 14 days, working tirelessly in terrain that’s much different from what we flat-landers are used to. During their time, they restored power to thousands of people. Their dedication and hard work, especially while being away from their families, do not go unnoticed. And an additional thank you to their families for the sacrifices they made while their loved ones were away. Your support means the world, and we couldn't do this without you. We are incredibly proud of the commitment to serving our community and helping others in need. Thank you all so much! #FourCountyEMC #Coopstrong #HurricaneHelene #ThankALineman
