What are health plans looking for in a partner? In 2022, Freespira participated in the Point32Health Innovation Challenge. This first-of-its-kind competition had a single purpose in mind: find novel treatments to address the needs of their members. The clinical innovation leadership team including Kate Wallis, Karen Fischbach, and former director of clinical innovation Jason Parent, required the winner to meet multiple rigorous criteria. In honor of #WorldMentalHealthDay, this week we’re spotlighting mental health in the U.S. The Trevor Project’s 2024 U.S. National Survey revealed that the risk of suicide among #LGBTQ+ youth remains high, and access to needed mental health services is limited. Some findings:   ·   39% of LGBTQ+ young people seriously considered attempting suicide in the past year ·   Among all LGBTQ+ young people, 84% wanted mental health care ·   50% of LGBTQ young people who wanted mental health care in the past year were not able to get it   Explore the full report here: https://lnkd.in/gagXa3ib   Young people deserve better. But those life factors affect a person’s ability to find and access #mentalhealth treatment—sometimes in unexpected ways. Former president of Grinnell College, Raynard Kingston, wrote about his experience with panic attacks in The Chronicle of Higher Education, and the unique challenges and stigma around mental health for those in leadership positions. Kingston writes: “It’s complex for presidents and senior leaders, especially in college towns, to make friends locally when you run the town’s largest employer.
