Fremont Chamber Profile: Alan Alabastro of Alabastro Photography Q) What was your first job? A) McDonald's as a teenager. I worked the front counter because I have always been good with people. Q) When did you start Alabastro Photography? A) 2009 *officially, but I started taking photos of our kids when they were at West Woodland Elementary and Pacific Northwest Ballet (PNB) as little kids. PNB then started to hire me to take photos of their productions and dancers, which led me to work with the Seattle Opera. It turned out I was good at this, and away we went. Q) Favorite new business in Fremont? A) Yubec, a native-owned store selling beautiful native-designed items. Q) Why do you belong to the Fremont Chamber? A) Being a member of the Fremont Chamber helps widen my network and resources. Q) What is something about you that people might not know? A) I have produced and co-hosted a Hawaiian radio show on KSER 90.7 for twenty years. Q) What is your favorite Fremont event? A) Fremont Fair and Solstice Parade! I have been the fair's official photographer for many years. I genuinely love it, and it never gets old. Q) Why did you set up your business in Fremont? A) My family and I live here, and the Fremont Chamber helps me connect more deeply with the community. Q) What are some of the skills that it takes to be a professional photographer? A) People skills and being diplomatic with a wide range of people is a must. I love the tension of problem-solving and being creative at the same time. Lastly, standing your ground. You know what will create the best image to tell a story. And at the end of the day, that is what you are doing: telling a story visually. Q) What is the hardest part of your job A) Being everywhere at once. But I am truly lucky. I love my work! AlabastroPhoto.com #FremontChamber #CenterOfTheUniverse #Photography #MemberProfile
