    You can tell a lot about someone by their digital presence 👀   Some people are not smart about social media - even if they’re the best fit for a role, if a quick search brings up unsavoury content, it’s likely they’re not getting the job.   On the other hand, if a candidate has absolutely no digital footprint at all, that can also be a concern.   In our opinion, it’s about striking the right balance.   But some people just like to be private and stay offline, don’t they?   What do you think?

    While I'm logged into LinkedIn, I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude to the Friedman Williams team. I first met them at the 2022 Legal Marketing Association (LMA) Annual Conference, where they were they served as sponsors and hosted a vendor booth, distributing various swag items, including squishy unicorn stress balls (pictured). For those who don’t know, my dad was diagnosed with esophageal cancer a few years ago and has been bravely fighting the disease. Due to his chemo infusions, he has experienced trauma to his hand, making it difficult to open his hand fully and use traditional stress balls. The unicorn stress ball from Friedman Williams was a perfect solution, bringing him comfort and a bit of joy during a challenging time. After many months of use, the unicorn eventually wore out. Recently, I had the pleasure of reconnecting with Jonathan Friedman (Managing Director, Friedman Williams) at the #LMANE Boston Summer Social and shared how much that small gift from 2022 had meant to my dad. To my surprise and delight, I received a box from Friedman Williams this weekend filled with new unicorn stress balls for my dad, rope toys for my dogs, and a few goodies for me. Thank you, Jonathan Friedman, for your generosity and thoughtfulness. Your actions exemplify the caring spirit of the Friedman Williams team.

    High quality vs cheaper, mediocre talent.   It’s a no-brainer, right? 🤔   You’d think so, but there are so many times I’ve seen clients seeking the “perfect” candidate on under market salaries.   Hiring mediocre talent is a great way to “barely” stay above water while trying to keep consistency within a role.   But you’re never going to get the superstar who’ll go above and beyond.   We’ll always listen to what our clients want.    But we’ll also encourage them to speak with a ‘wild card or out of the box” candidate.   A little more expensive, a little more qualified.   Often, maybe even 8 out of 10 times, that candidate is hired and clients experience much more:   ➖ Retention ➖ Satisfaction   When something is cheaper in the short-term, it can end up costing you more in the long-term.   Let us save you time and money in the long run.

    Here’s a hiring tip for you 👇🏼   Don’t settle for the first candidate you meet…even if you think they’re great.   Even when you think the first candidate you interview checks all the boxes, many times it’s worth meeting more.   You may not realize it, but you could be feeling the pressure to hire. We are always strong in telling our clients to slow down to avoid a bad hire.   We don’t want to see you settle.    Let the process win out over rushing - consider a few people.   If that first person still hits the mark, great.   But don’t focus so hard on getting the hire off your plate that you make the wrong decision.   There’s always time to see just one more person. #recruitment #legalrecruitment #legal
