Thrilled to share some exciting work the FS Studio team has been doing at the cutting edge of simulation technology using Gaussian Splatting! We set out to demonstrate the power of simulation for rapid product design and development, particularly in spatial solutions. Building on our previous work with neuroreconstruction using NeRF and splats for training, we began exploring Gaussian splats for event monitoring and 3D reconstruction of captured events. What really took this project to the next level was integrating Large Language Models (LLMs) into our solution. This allowed us to create a platform that not only captured events but also quickly identified and categorized various events across industrial, warehouse, and healthcare domains. The results? A resounding success! We were able to generate a working prototype within just a few months, something that would have taken months—if not longer—without the use of simulation. This approach enabled us to iterate rapidly on physical layouts, event detection, and algorithm performance, significantly reducing the time to deployment. We’re incredibly excited about the potential of this technology to be applied in real-world environments and can’t wait to see where it takes us next! Want to learn more? I have dreamt of the day that we could commission automation equipment in a virtual world. That software was way ahead of its time. It had 3D graphics and full physics calculations. I could test how a box would travel up an incline. Unfortunately, the computer power wasn’t good enough to do an entire operation. ...15 years later both software and hardware have made the dream a reality. We can fully test equipment and even entire systems in a virtual environment. For a fraction of the cost to deploy real equipment, your system can be tested and verified.
