Executive Performance Coach to 100+ Leaders and Elite Athletes | Globally Accredited Evidence-Based and Results-Driven Performance Coaching, where we measurably improve your growth to lead and perform better.

You need culture AND accountability to drive performance. But often, we get obsessed with “team culture” as if it’s the only magic sauce we need. I’ve seen teams with incredible culture… and unsustainable poor results. Why? Because team culture without accountability develops a 'helplessness dependence'. It creates passive teams that expect the leader to handle everything. Great teams aren’t only built on culture— They’re built on expectations – clear, challenging, and unwavering expectations that everyone is held to. Recognise and reinforce accountable behaviour. Articulate not just what needs to be done but why it matters. Set specific, measurable goals that align with your team’s and organisation’s vision. Encourage regular check-ins and create safe spaces for team members to voice concerns, share progress, and seek support. What’s driving your team's greatness? “Culture” or culture backed with accountability?

"He who knows others is wise; he who knows himself is enlightened" - Lao Tzu A great exercise to run with your team is by getting them to fill out their My User Manual. This is a shared document with the manager and their direct report whereby they lay out their working styles and preferences in order to help them work more effectively together. The user manual enhances team cohesion and efficiency by offering a transparent view of each member's work habits, communication styles, and personality. It’s great for self reflection but also improving overall team dynamics and performance. Here's how you can get started. Introduction: Begin with a concise introduction via a 1:1 or a group exercise explaining the manual's purpose, benefits and how to complete the manual Framework: Add prompts or questions to each framework section to aid reflection and articulation, such as: - How and when I do my best work - What I need when dealing with difficulties - How I communicate and How I like to receive feedback: - Things I need and things I struggle with - Add an optional section on personal life Consider including a personality test: DISC or Meyer Briggs Management Style: When it comes to your manual add a section to highlight your management style and expectations Include it in your onboarding process to help new joiners orientate themselves If you're interested in this and more check out the My User Manual in the Leader's Toolkit at LeaderTools.co

Generously Gives Credit ↳ They highlight your accomplishments. ↳ They treat your success as their own. 2. Seeks Your Input ↳ Your ideas are important to them. ↳ They welcome your thoughts without judgement. 3. Supports Your Growth ↳ They readily offer their support when you need it. ↳ They challenge you to push yourself. 4. Really Cares About "You" ↳ Spends time to understand how you're really doing. ↳ Guides you, not just monitor you. 5. Respects Your Time ↳ They treat your off-hours as your off-hours. ↳ Work-life balance actually means something. 6. Leads By Example ↳ Back up their words with their actions. ↳ Role model the way by leading with integrity. 7. Leaders are like smartphone batteries. The best ones keep you charged and ready. The worst? They drain you dry. Remember that boss who lit up your world? The one who made you feel unstoppable? Now think of the one who dimmed your light. That sinking feeling. The Sunday night blues. It's like day and night, isn't it? Superstar leaders? • Challenge you to reach new heights • Throw confetti for your victories • Tune in to your frequency • Shield you from storms These rock stars: ↳ Unlock your hidden superpowers ↳ Turn your self-doubt into self-belief ↳ Build a team that feels like your squad Energy-vampire leaders? They're masters at: • Pointing fingers faster than a game of tag • Playing "Mean Girls" at the office • Breathing down your neck 24/7 • Stealing your spotlight Working for them feels like: ↳ Trying to fill a leaky bucket ↳ Tiptoeing through a minefield ↳ Watching your passion fizzle out Leadership isn't about fancy titles or corner offices. It's about the vibes you send out. So, ask yourself: ↳ Are you the power bank that keeps everyone charged? ↳ Or the faulty charger that leaves them running on empty? The ball's in your court. Your team's counting on you to score. Let's be the leaders who light up rooms, not dim spirits. Our teams deserve nothing less. 💚 Are you with me? Transforming leaders to be a coach | Keynote Speaker | Best Selling Author of EVERY LEADER IS A COACH | Exec Coach (PCC)

One of the most highly sought after leaders that I know is 𝗝𝗼𝗵𝗻 𝗖. 𝗠𝗮𝘅𝘄𝗲𝗹𝗹. He taught me that leadership is influence. What does your leadership influence look like? ➡️ Is it a positive influence, or is it toxic and challenging? Influence is a hard thing to put your finger on—maybe even hard to describe. ⚡ 𝗕𝘂𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲’𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗸𝗲𝘆: every action, decision, and conversation you have as a leader is shaping the culture around you. ⚡ Whether you realize it or not, you are influencing those you lead. 𝗦𝗼 𝗮𝘀𝗸 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳— ➡️ 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘂𝗽 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺? ➡️ a𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲, 𝗼𝗿 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗶𝗿 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝘁𝗵? Leadership isn’t about authority or control. ⚡ Leadership is about understanding that your influence can either lift others up or hold them back. The best leaders are intentional about their 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗹𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲, constantly striving to 𝗶𝗻𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗲, 𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿 an environment where their team can succeed. ⚡ 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗹𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝘁𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆? #Leadership #Influence #JohnCMaxwell #TeamSuccess #Empowerment

Becoming a first time manager can be daunting. Where do I even start? How will your success be measured? Will my team like me? Here's 6 Mindset Shifts to make when you become a manager 1. Team Success = Your Success As a manager, you are now responsible for the success of your team. You will be measured by their performance and how well you coach, develop, hire and manage underperforming team members. Your success is now intertwined with theirs 2. Maintain professional relationships with your team While it's important to be friendly with your team members, it's equally important to maintain a professional relationship. Being friends with your subordinates can sometimes lead to favoritism, which can be detrimental to team dynamics. It's important to maintain clear boundaries and ensure that everyone is treated fairly. Be friendly but not friends 3. Prioritize respect over likability It's a normal human need to want to be liked, but as a manager, it's more important to prioritize respect over being liked. This means being honest, giving negative feedback when necessary, and making decisions that are in the best interest of the team/company, even if they are not popular. Respect is earned through actions, so focus on building a reputation for getting things done, integrity and fairness. If you aim to please your team then you can establish bad habits and run around focusing on their “satisfaction”. Managers need to make brave and uncomfortable decisions that may be unpopular “I can’t tell you how to succeed, but I can tell you how to fail: Try to please everybody.” — Eleanor Roosevelt 4. Lead by example As a manager, you are now a role model for your team. How you act and behave will set the tone for your team's culture. Show up on time, respond to messages promptly, complete tasks on time, and avoid gossip. Your energy and enthusiasm will set the tone for the team, so be intentional about how you show up every day 5. Anticipate and prevent problems As a manager, you need to shift from solving problems as they arise to anticipating and preventing them before they occur. This means being proactive and taking a strategic approach to problem-solving like looking at what processes led to such issues and preventing them in future Invest in your team by getting the Leader's Toolkit!
