    Giving a raise is often cheaper than replacing someone But companies often neglect employees' salaries until they decide to leave. The effort and resources needed to hire someone who you don't know is not only more expensive but also pose more risks as you are betting on a fresh talent. You have a small window to evaluate this person and they could be much better than the person you are replacing but you do not know until they are in the job. Be honest with yourself!
