With organizations worldwide working to end the #AIDS epidemic, coordination across philanthropy is key: Our global response is stronger together. That’s why FCAA’s Global Philanthropy Summit creates space for donors and activists like AIDS United to share ideas, set priorities, and catalyze our collective effort in the fight against #HIV. Over the course of two transformative days, philanthropic leaders will: - Assess the impact of recent elections on communities most impacted by #HIV - Explore the role of #philanthropy in this political moment - Strategize together to protect and strengthen the #intersectional HIV response Are you a #funder concerned about #AIDS? Did you know that FCAA has members in 8 countries around the world? #HIV is a global issue, and philanthropic leaders must think globally so they can move swiftly when it matters—like our donor working group did to drive a whopping 571% funding increase to Ukraine in 2022. The FCAA Global Philanthropy Summit brings together hundreds of leaders like Mark Vermeulen of Aidsfonds—working across geographies, issue areas, and key populations—so we are ready to serve communities when they need us most. Join funders this January at the FCAA Global Philanthropy Summit to plan our next steps in the evolving fight against HIV. https://lnkd.in/gadvmV3W

This Hispanic Heritage Month, FCAA had the honor to attend the Adelante HIV Summit, a White House convening of over 100 leaders focused on accelerating our national HIV response for Latinx communities. While extraordinary progress has been made in responding to HIV at the national level, this progress is not equally reflected in Latinx communities. Despite accounting for nearly 1 in 3 (or 32%) of new HIV cases, Latinx communities only received 11% ($27.6 M) of all HIV philanthropy in the U.S in 2022. Today on National Latinx AIDS Awareness Day, we want to highlight key actions funders can take to enhance the HIV response in Latinx communities: · Fund solution-oriented research and interventions to identify and address inequities driving the HIV epidemic in the Latinx community -Special needs exist for research in trans Latina women as this data remains limited; without this data, funding remains inaccessible -Special needs exist for prevention and testing programming for CBOs (testing kits, condoms, PrEP, etc) · Invest in Latinx specific programming by prioritizing funding for culturally and linguistically tailored programs that holistically address the unique needs of these communities · Directly invest in and collaborate with community to gain deeper insights into their needs, ensuring that resources are aligned and effectively match those needs. Disrupt the HIV Epidemic - Fund Latinx Communities! #NLAAD #HispanicHeritageMonth #AdelanteHIVSummit

Grateful to Meg French and Alexis Wilson Briggs for helping us start this important conversation about HIV and women and girls in advance of the Association for Women's Rights in Development (AWID) Forum. #HIV #philanthropy #women #health
Power imbalances, a lack of access to care, and stigma make women and girls more vulnerable to HIV. Globally, 53% of people living with HIV are women, yet the most recent data from Funders Concerned About AIDS found only $55 million USD (8%) in HIV-related philanthropy supported them in 2022-- just $2.7 per woman living with HIV. Thanks to Meg French, Alexis Wilson Briggs, and Sarah Hamilton for this important piece in Alliance magazine in advance of the Association for Women's Rights in Development (AWID) Forum. #HIV #philanthropy #women #health

We see a worrying trend in our field: The top 20 funders make up a whopping 84% of all philanthropic funding for the #HIV response. Our latest resource tracking report examines 2022 #grantmaking data— encompassing more than 6,000 grants, 767 funders, and 2,700 grantee organizations—to reveal which grantmakers are leading the fight against HIV. Despite new #intersectional funders entering the space, this concerning concentration of funding could derail momentum with a single budget cut. Philanthropic support cannot come from a single sector, and there has never been a more critical time for new #funders to join us in the fight to end the epidemic. HIV continues to disproportionately impact Black communities in the U.S. - especially in the South. While our latest resource tracking report shows that HIV-related funding for Black Americans rose slightly in 2022, it's not keeping up with the need. These numbers prompt important questions for grantmakers: Racial justice funders: Is #HIV included in your giving strategy? HIV funders: Is your response rooted in #racialjustice? To advance #healthequity in our fight to end the #epidemic, both must be true. Dive deeper into funding needs for the people and places most impacted by HIV in our latest infographic: Responding to HIV in Black and Latinx Communities and in the U.S. South https://bit.ly/3XKlyoi

📣 Calling all FCAA members! We have a question for the hivemind 💡 : If you had to help a colleague understand why HIV is a feminist issue, is there a story, example, or datapoint that you would share? We're working on an opportunity to create conversations on this at an upcoming meeting, and would love your thoughts. Help us build this narrative! Message us here - or if you'd like to talk in more depth, connect with Sarah Hamilton!
