As part of our Women’s History Month mini series, we’re excited to share Audrey Wall’s (FGA District VP) story: “I didn’t learn to read until the third grade. My teacher, Mrs. Finch was the first person to truly see me, and she gave me the gift of learning—my first experience with personalized education.” As a working professional, Audrey began her career in education at the university level, where she saw firsthand how learning could change lives: “Combined with my own childhood experiences, this shaped my belief that education isn’t just about academics. It’s about opportunity, confidence, and transformation.” Despite all her success, Audrey shares that she has wondered, “Can I really do this? When I went back to school while raising five kids. When I stepped into my first leadership role. When I transitioned to virtual education. Every step felt uncertain at first, but I moved forward anyway. And that’s the key—you grow into leadership by doing.” For Audrey, Women’s History Month is about about “choosing courage despite the fear and lifting others as you climb. I hope to inspire women to step into spaces where their voices matter and to create room for others to do the same.” Thank you for sharing your story with us, Audrey! “If I could tell future Fusion students one thing, it would be that the school will be consistently accommodating to your needs, especially as a traveling student-athlete.” – Chase, a Fusion Academy Newton alumni. At Fusion, we understand that balancing academics and extracurriculars can be challenging, which is why we offer the flexibility and support students need to succeed in both. For Chase, this meant having a schedule that worked around her fencing commitments, allowing her to train, compete, and stay on top of her coursework 🤺. A key part of her journey was the guidance of Emily Russell, her statistics teacher. Chase shares, “She made me more confident in my understanding of statistics by explaining it to me in a way that seemed applicable to the real world. She made me value math more, and she was incredibly supportive of me both professionally and personally during my time at Fusion.” This strong academic foundation helped Chase achieve a major milestone: committing to Boston College for fencing (@bcfencing)!
