Yesterday's groundbreaking on a high-power laser & fusion facility in Colorado, upcoming meetings in Rome for the G7 Working Group on Fusion and the IAEA World Fusion Energy Group... Catch up on what we're up to with today's Fusion Industry Association newsletter. Here's our CEO Andrew Holland's intro - full update at the link below. Hello from Colorado! I’m here celebrating the groundbreaking of Marvel Fusion and Colorado State University’s partnership on a new high-power laser and fusion research facility, that they’ve named “ATLAS.” I think this partnership is so important because it covers public, private, and international collaboration on doing the important science that is needed to commercialize fusion. The launch featured remarks from the President of CSU, Amy Parsons; U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Undersecretary of Energy for Science and Innovation, Geri Richmond; Congressman Joe Neguse; and Marvel’s CEO, Moritz von der Linden. Many of the team from Marvel made the trip from Bavaria, as an important sign of partnership. While here, I’m taking advantage of being in the state to visit Colorado-based FIA members Xcimer Energy Corporation and Horne Technologies, Inc.. It’s been a great couple of days in the emerging fusion hub of Colorado. Coming up, in early November, we look forward to a couple of important fusion events in Rome, where first the G7 Working Group on Fusion Energy will meet and then the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) World Fusion Energy Group will kick off. You might remember the G7 Leader’s Summit earlier this year, where the leaders declared to work together on finding collaborative opportunities in accelerating fusion commercialization, along with together achieving consistent regulatory approaches. Then, the IAEA’s World Fusion Energy Group inaugural ministerial meeting will bring together public and private leaders to map out pathways to commercializing fusion. The FIA is working directly with the IAEA and our member companies to ensure a productive meeting. Also - exciting news at FIA - we’re expanding our team! Two positions are open: Director for Events and Membership and Manager for Public Policy. Learn more at the links and forward along to anyone you think might make a good addition. As always, thank you for keeping up with the FIA and all our activity. Andrew Holland Chief Executive Officer Fusion Industry Association https://lnkd.in/eZEeX6bd

Make sure you watch the The Wall Street Journal video about China's efforts to take the lead on fusion, compared to the US, spending twice as much on government research and building the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) plan for fusion commercialization. However, as FIA CEO Andrew Holland says in the video, the private sector enables the US and partner countries to work together to see a private approach to commercial fusion built faster. Earlier this week, the Fusion Industry Association participated in the first Nordic Fusion Forum co-organised by our Swedish member Novatron Fusion Group AB in collaboration with KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm. The event gathered policymakers, business leaders, investors and media from the region, and tackled the role of Nordic countries in the rapid scale-up of fusion energy. Cyrille Mai Thanh, FIA’s Europe Director, presented the latest news around fusion commercialisation both at global and European level. Commercial fusion energy will become a reality in the decade of 2030’s. In fact, we have never been so close to achieving fusion energy, and the Nordics can play an important role in accelerating the industrialisation of fusion. #FusionEnergy #CleanTech #NordicFusionForum

Great things always start with one step. We look forward to continuing to support the Nordic Fusion Forum as it grows yearly. Thanks for hosting, Novatron Fusion Group AB!
Thank you all for a very interesting first Nordic Fusion Forum. Fusion energy is indeed one of many critical solutions to the world's climate challenges, including the electrification of societies and businesses. It is becoming evidently clear that more and more leading industrialized nations refine their fusion strategies, recruit top talents and invest heavily in public-private partnerships We at Novatron Fusion Group AB firmly belive that the Nordics must act decisively to remain competitive or risk being left behind. We would like to thank Anders Söderholm president at KTH for a great introduction, Mark Maslin professor of Earth System Science, University College london for insights on the potential and societal impact of fusion energy. Also a special thanks to Cyrille Mai Thanh Director Europe at the Fusion Industry Association for a impressive presentation on fusion energy development on a global scale. As always, we welcome the thoughts and input on investments in fusion and on the global trends with Lisa Ericsson, CEO at KTH Holding together with Ingvar Eriksson Investment Manager at EIT InnoEnergy including Philip von Segebaden Head Investor Relations and Partnerships, Novatron Fusion Group Finally, the forum was concluded with some current affairs on the Fusion ecosystem and preparation in the Nordics with Camilla Hoflund CEO, Studsvik Nuclear AB, Henrikki Talvitie CEO, St1, Markus Airila Fusion Team Leader, VTT and Balder Hagert Head of Portfolio, Kärnfull Next. It is evident that positioning the Nordics as leaders will not be a quick fix. However the ball is in motion. More collaboration is key. Thanks again Carl Berglöf Swedish national nuclear new-build coordinator, Peter Strannegård CEO, Fortum Sweden and Peter Roos CEO, Novatron Fusion Group. The entire event was moderated by Linda Nyberg. The other hard work to make this first forum happen was managed by the team at Novatron Fusion Group AB. We are looking forward to the next Nordic Fusion Forum. #fusion #itallstartshere #kth #fusionenergy #tech #sweden #nordics #energy #netzero

Important day yesterday in Stockholm with the launch of the new Nordic Fusion Forum.
The Nordic Fusion Forum, led by Novatron Fusion Group AB in collaboration with KTH Royal Institute of Technology (Stockholm), will debut today. This event offers a Nordic perspective on the global fusion energy landscape, emphasizing the urgent need to industrialize commercial fusion energy. According to the Fusion Industry Association, public investments in private initiatives have increased by 57 percent in the last year and the accumulated investments in private fusion companies are now more than $7 billion*. In addition, governments are increasing their engagement to accelerate the industrialization of fusion power. Together with the global fusion industry, Novatron Fusion Group share the collective interest in building credibility and trust in fusion as initiatives advance toward commercialization and global impact. - The Nordic region stands to gain significantly by securing competencies and accelerating industrialization efforts, with commercial fusion energy expected to become a reality by 2040, says Philip von Segebaden, Head of Investor Relations and Partnerships at Novatron Fusion Group. - These topics aim to engage key decision-makers, industry stakeholders, investors and politicians in a needed dialogue about the future of fusion energy in the Nordic region. Joining forces across stakeholders will be key to pave way for fusion energy's potential and societal impact, says Lisa Ericsson, CEO of KTH Holding AB. #fusion #itallstartshere #kth #fusionenergy #tech #sweden #nordics #energy #netzero https://lnkd.in/gYBu9P5x

Tackling climate change requires a lot of work from the private sector. That’s why we were so happy to help kick off Climate Week NYC this week by heading to Nasdaq for the market’s opening bell. Our CEO Bob Mumgaard joined the opening festivities alongside Emerson Collective’s Laurene Powell Jobs and Galvanize Climate Solutions’ Tom Steyer. This event spotlighted fusion and other crucial building blocks for making the energy transition real and decarbonizing our economy. And it showed the role that climate investing plays toward that progress. Thank you to the Emerson Collective for inviting us to be a part of this progress. #ClimateWeekNYC #Fusion #Energy
