About us
GabbaCamp is the creation of Golden String inc., a 501(c)3 not for profit organization located in Youngstown, Ohio for the betterment of adults and children with additional needs. Founded in 2001, Golden String Inc. has provided recreational activities and transportation for people with intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities in all walks of life. GabbaCamp is the latest extension of that mission, striving to promote the benefits of and allow access to green space which has been proven to promote mental and physical health, and reduce morbidity and mortality in urban residents by providing psychological relaxation and stress alleviation, stimulating social cohesion, supporting physical activity. Upon breaking ground on GabbaCamp our first priority was to lay a wheel-chair path around our beautiful lake which takes pedestrians on a scenic trip through the woods.
