GRU is honored to have one of Randy Batista’s photographs displayed in our admin break room, especially as President Biden just awarded him the National Medal of Arts on Oct. 21. The photo captures GRU Engineer and Utility Designer Jim Gilmartin inspecting a duct system in Randy’s attic back in 2005 as part of our duct leak pilot program. Congratulations to Randy, a longtime Gainesville photographer, on this well-deserved recognition!

On Wednesday, Oct. 16, GRU’s Environmental Programs Coordinator, Andrea Ditto, represented the utility at Santa Fe College’s Sustainability Celebration in honor of Campus Sustainability Month. Andrea shared GRU’s water and wastewater story with students, highlighting that GRU treats and beneficially reuses all of the wastewater our customers generate. The top uses? Environmental restoration and aquifer recharge, helping protect our natural resources for future generations.
