Our goal is to improve diagnostic testing and accelerate drug discovery in diverse underserved populations. We are focused on Latin America and our diaspora populations throughout the world including founder populations in the Americas, those who identify as Hispanic/Latino, Black or African American, Asian American, American Indian/Alaska Native, First Nations, and Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander as well as people who self identify as belonging to two or more of these groups. Core to our mission is building trust with the communities we serve and long term partnerships with communities, researchers, clinicians, and most of all patients and their families. This is your biobank and for the benefit of all. If we build it, we can decide how the data are used. And no one is going to do it for us, so let’s roll up our sleeves and “time to build.” Join us! 📢 Exciting research from the Galatea Bio Inc. team. The study addressed the challenge of portability of polygenic risk scores (PRS) derived from European across other populations. Through a comprehensive evaluation of PRS models across Africans, Europeans, East Asians, and South Asians for 14 conditions, significant performance enhancements are proposed by utilizing ancestry-specific models. 🚀 Exciting News to Share! 🚀 — I am thrilled to announce that I have joined Galatea Bio Inc. as their Chief Technology Officer. Galatea Bio is at the forefront of transforming healthcare through genetic diversity, focusing on underrepresented populations in genomic/clinical research and leveraging cutting-edge AI and data science technologies. By integrating diverse datasets, Galatea Bio seeks to uncover unique genetic insights, driving innovations in drug development and precision medicine for a healthier, more equitable future. In my role as CTO, I will be leading the technical vision and strategy, driving innovation, and overseeing the development of novel methods to leverage genetic diversity and scalable systems that enable research in large genomic and clinical datasets. I am also looking to grow our team, preferably in the SF Bay Area, in the areas of data science, bioinformatics, and software development—so reach out to me if you are interested in our mission. Before joining Galatea Bio, I spent three and a half years at Tempus AI, where I had the privilege of working with an incredibly supportive and talented team.
