For over 60 years Banks has innovated performance parts for light trucks, RVs, sportscars, SUVs, marine, and defense.

About us

Over 60 years of engineering milestones for Gale Banks Engineering founder and president Gale Banks began at age 14 with an engine teardown of his mother's '31 Ford Model A that resulted in an increase of more than 40 horsepower. Just two years later, in 1958, Gale was officially in the engine business, first in Lynwood, California, then in San Gabriel. He remains the hands-on president to the 200-employee-strong manufacturing and engineering complex that today occupies 12 acres in the San Gabriel Valley town of Azusa. Gale Banks Engineering is known far and wide as the premier designer and manufacturer of power-enhancing products for diesel- and gas-powered trucks, motorhomes, and sport-utility vehicles. Since the 1960s, Gale's futuristic high-performance engines have broken new ground while shattering world records. His marine engines propelled racing boats to national and world championships, and his marine engines were chosen by the U.S. military. After decades of racing, Banks Power is still the only company to have set records at Bonneville in both automobile and truck classes.

Nearly 700 attended Banks Friends & Family Day 2024 this past Saturday. The entire street was shut down and lined with amazing trucks, Jeeps, Broncos, sports cars, and vintage vehicles. Invited guests indulged in food truck fare, handmade ice cream, and the coldest beer while watching The Truck Show Podcast's Sean Holman interview guests, including the man of the hour, Gale Banks. SoCal Gladiators brought out nearly a dozen lifted monsters, and among the 88 Rotors' collections was a fully built '24 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro and Jeep JL. The row of Fords included DMAX Ryno's giant F-450 and Bernhardt Leighter's Overland-ready F-250. RAM and GM were well represented by local off-roaders. Thanks to partners like Toyo Tires, Koch-Chemie detail supplies, Knott's Berry Farm, and others, raffle winners took home exciting prizes. The event is just one way of giving back to team members and supporters who help to make Banks one of the most influential brands in both aftermarket and defense.

During the company's most recent Food Truck Friday, Gale Banks personally handed a Banks Diesel Hybrid HMMWV challenge coin to team members who contributed to the groundbreaking project. These special commemorative coins celebrate achievements in electrical and mechanical engineering, fabrication, test, procurement, and marketing departments. Banks' 65+ years of expertise with internal combustion engine technology, combined with cutting-edge electrical engineering and computer science, has made the company a powerhouse in diesel hybrid technology. Those who've served in the military or worked for the Department of Defense know what a challenge coin represents. They’ve been an American military tradition for a century, meant to instill unit pride, improve esprit de corps, and reward hard work and excellence. The embossing on the front of the Banks coin reads, "Redefining Military Performance." The back describes the engine and team who designed and built it; "Banks D630TH (D-diesel, 6-cylinder, 3-liter, T-turbo, H-hybrid) Turbo Hybrid Development Team." Congratulations and thank you to all those involved in this amazing project. The vehicle is currently undergoing testing at the U.S. Army's Aberdeen Proving Ground.

Banks hosted our annual Thanksgiving luncheon to give thanks to each and every employee for all of their hard work and dedication throughout the year. We could not do it without them. During our luncheon we honored our long-time colleague of 23 years, Thomas Boardman, who lost his battle with cancer this week. This serves as a reminder to always be thankful for our loved ones and to never forget that every day is a gift.
