Philly SHRM HR Lift Lab Module 3 focused on connecting business data and employee data. We had four key takeaways from four tremendous subject matter experts: 1 - segment data to identify a story that can amplify your point 2 - clarify the belief, confidence, and pride in employee experience moments that fuels business growth 3 - check your biases in how you see work/data; we all have them 4 - leverage the PASO model (purpose, audience, source, outcome) Special thanks to Himalay Khimani, Jim Multari, Chris Wallace, and Catherine Preim, SPHR, SHRM-CP for your wisdom and time with the cohort this month! #selfawareness #HRdevelopment

Do moments of collaboration create more freedom or hesitation to take action?   Here’s how you influence your environment to lean towards greater freedom:   1 – Instead of just asking someone if they feel safe or included at work, ask someone to share where they are most hesitant and why. Create healthy spaces to discuss this more regularly. 2 – Reflect on how you show up when you initiate collaboration versus when others initiate. Be attentive to matching the energy you have for your own ideas versus the ideas of others.   Done wrong, collaboration creates more barriers in the name of niceness. Done right, collaboration delivers outsized business impact, reduced cost, and improved team morale.   Share this post if you agree. Philly SHRM Lift Lab Module 2 in the books! So grateful to the following folks for collaborating on the delivery: Zachary Wilcha as our guest speaker, Monica "Moni" Brooks as our faculty, and Kaela Blanks, M.S., SHRM-SCP as our coaching circle lead. Three key takeaways we discussed with this cohort: - be proactive in anticipating patterns in the operational cycle. - zoom out and see the opportunities to influence horizontally. - play offense on change and bring your POV to the table with intention. The intersection of change, engagement, and inclusion is real. Self-aware HR leaders lean into being bold with the balance on what the organization needs and what the team needs. #SHRM #HR #selfawareness #inclusiveleadership

Do you behave like a leader or an individual contributor? The answer may surprise you. Leaders who do not effectively leverage their teams to get work done are maximizing their value as an individual contributor rather than scaling their value as a leader of a team. To maximize your impact as a leader, segment delegation into four progressive tiers: Tier 1: Prescriptive. The leader keeps all power and control and tells the teammate to do exactly what to do. They delegate the doing in writing. The teammate learns by doing, and the experience will prepare them for more control in the future. Tier 2: Exploratory. The leader asks the teammate to research the work and propose next steps before completing any work. This creates confidence for both parties, and it minimizes possible rework. The teammate learns by proposing, and yet they are kept safe via checks and balances. Tier 3: Adaptive. The teammate owns all simple decisions but checks in with the leader on moments where they hesitate. This empowers the teammate until uncertainty happens. Then they defer to the leader. The teammate learns how to move work forward and escalate in moments of pause. Tier 4: Empowering. Here the leader delegates full control so that the teammate owns all decisions. The leader having the back of the teammate and all of their decisions is core to making this approach successful. The teammate learns how to own the full body of work and see their leader support them. Which tier of delegation do you have in place now? —---------- ♻️ Follow me for weekly posts on reinventing your career, your team and your business. 👉 Share this post if it resonates with you

Super grateful to Paula Barg, Corinne O'Connell, and Jackie Linton, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, MBA for their collaboration as we presented The Self-Aware HR Leader (Module 1) to this first cohort of the Philly SHRM HR Lift Lab. We had some tremendous discussions with the group about: - playing more offense to create value via proactive reinvention - balancing what's good for the business and good for the team - differentiating between vertical and horizontal leadership Excited to lean into Module 2 starting this week focused on inclusion, engagement, and change! #selfawareness #leadershipdevelopment #SHRM

When was the last time you reinvented yourself – or your business? Reinvention is a necessity against a backdrop of rapid changes. I came across two shining examples of reinvention in The New York Times recently. If you think it’s impossible to reinvent the classical and traditional, think again. Broadway is known for its razzle dazzle but as TV cuts back on scripted series and Hollywood prefers franchise production, stars are flocking to Broadway. Celebrities are reviving Broadway theater as producers see stars as safer bets than musicals and ushering a brand new era of theater that no one could’ve seen coming. Meanwhile, San Francisco’s Grace Cathedral was once a traditional place of worship and it’s now been reimagined as a vibrant community hub, hosting yoga classes, dance events, and more. The town may not have an appetite for religion but it has a hunger for community and connection. So, ask yourself: How can you reinvent your business or career to stay relevant? #Reinvention #GrowthMindset #BusinessTransformation #Adaptability #Innovation —-- ♻️ Follow me for weekly posts on reinventing your career, your team and your business. 👉 Share this post if it resonates with you ---- Links to articles: How Hollywood Glamour Is Reviving the Endangered Broadway Play https://lnkd.in/esgzQAVV In Counterculture San Francisco, a Church Has Become the Place to Be https://lnkd.in/e7Wnp9Wd

Congratulations to Saint Joseph's University and Barnes Foundation on this exciting collaboration! Our founder Dan Gallagher's experience at The Barnes Foundation when he was a student at SJU paved the way for his work in self-aware leadership. 🖼 Curious to hear about how he learned to look at not only the paintings but also the people looking at the paintings? ✅ Ready to take your leadership to the next level? ▶ Learn more about The Self-Aware Leader virtual development program: https://lnkd.in/eSNPrYtD #selfawareness #leadershipdevelopment

Leaders can learn a lot from Olympians about self-awareness. As we prepare for our 4-month virtual leadership development program coming this Fall, here’s one of our favorite 45-second videos from former Olympian, Alexi Pappas, on her Rule of Thirds. This is an amazing example of slowing yourself down to speed yourself up by separating yourself from effort/outcomes to center on progress/learnings. Enjoy the video and the 2024 Olympic Games! #selfawareness #leadershipdevelopment #performance #ruleofthirds #olympics2024
